Question:
The link is here (http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=13363) and the bottom line for those who can't be bothered is that...
It's pretty good actually - even though Knowles starts the review by saying...
"I have never picked up a script in my life with the anger and hate that I came to pick up the James Gunn draft of DAWN OF THE DEAD remake script."
But then goes on to say how good the thing is - but it would be even better if they scrapped the remake idea and just titled it differently as there is little similarites to the two scripts, only that Zombies have taken over and part of the film takes place in a Mall. Other than that Knowles says they're very different.
I like the idea that you become a zombie in an instant, get bitten, die and come back hungry. And that human will only eat human, while dog will eat dog and bird eat bird - there won't be any human eats dog scenes - even it appears to make little sense (If they were hungry they would eat whatever right?) but then it could be the "Doing what was familiar" theme that ran through Romero's film, so a person remembers "Hey, i never ate dog when i was alive" type thing - BTW the 'Familiar' theme is in this script too - example, a postman will continue to mess around with mailboxes, as if it brings back some sort of memory for him.
All in all it sounds pretty good - as Knowles points out though, it is very very violent and very very bleak so the chances of the script making it through unscaved is little i think.

So it's going to be set in a shopping mall in Papua, New Guinea, then??
Or could they loosen up the food-chain rules and set it in Korea?

Hehe, good point.

The bit he goes into detail on does sound quite good...
They could set it in a Mall in the resident McDonalds - whenever anyone eats a BigMac it turns them into a violent rabid zombie. Hence setting off a large scale epidemic. That would be a bit different (and more true to life).
