Question:
Anyone got this? If so, what are your first impressions?
I was looking at buying the widescreen edition.
:rocker: :rocker:
Bought it yesterday. Very impressed with the widescreen. It crops a bit of Stockard Channing's name in the titles so although 2.35 aspect, still a small amount of the picture is lost. But so much better than the tv and video presentations.
The interviews Extra is over all too quickly, sadly, at 16 mins but great to see nonetheless.
I watched 20 mins of the movie and was 16 all over again.
Well worth £10.99!!! (£15.99 - £5 WHS voucher).
The name cropping is purely down to television overscan. Does the same on my 32" w/s set (and always did it with the w/s VHS as well). I played the dvd on my pc and the entire frame is there!
Also in an interview at dvdfile.com, the director says that there will be another release in 2004 that will be a proper special edition with commentary etc. (hope they include the "VH1 - behind the music" docu next time).
I'm waiting for Play to deliver the R1 version. I have to listen to all those songs at the correct speed! :rocker:
A.
I got the R1 as I'm not listening to the music speeded up.
The picture is the best I've seen the movie looking since i saw it at the cinema in the 70's.The music lacked in bass, i thought but it's worth buying none the less
It is the best it's looked but could look a whole lot better - hopefully the true SE in 2 years will do a full restoration.
And whats up with the 1998 sound-mix?
why did they add in various new sounds and mess-up the mixout of "you're the one that I want" - listen carefully. It speeds up as Danny & Sandy jump away from 'Shake Shack' and then adds a new "wooh hoo" as it fades out, sounds all wrong :(
Anyone else noticed these anomilies?
