Phone Booth trailer - Yummy!
Question:

Just watched this (http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/phone_booth/) its looking mighty damn tasty at the moment. If Colin Farrell is anywhere as good in this as he was in tigerland then I feel a best actor nominee at next years Oscars:clap:

Answers:

Yeah I posted it a while asking about the title of the song that plays during it, it's a great trailer and concept, I can't wait.

Answers:

Dosen't exactly take a genius to work out who the sniper is though!

Answers:

ooooh! he's "above the title" now too!
WHY wasn't he nominated for "Tigerland" btw? easily the best performance of 2000 - and he looks so damn yummy too, not that I'm shallow! :o

Answers:

Colin Farrell is gorgeous, and does a flawless New York-based American accent! The storyline sounds awesome. I have to see this film!

Answers:

I knew who the Sniper was as soon as i heard it. Though apparantly you never see him.

That's why the more or less easily replaced the original sniper actor with Kiefer Sutherland. No one will say why though.

Answers:

I'm pretty sure that Jim Carrey was set to do this at one time, but now I see that they've dumped him and altered the concept to a degree.

Answers:

Yeah Jim Carrey was attached to this first. Just hope Joel Schumacher is back on track after Tigerland and this doesn't turn out to be a Batman and Robin:eek:
Does anyone know whether the film is going to stay with Colin Farrell the whole length of the film which I think was the original premise? If so its going to be interesting how they keep the audiences attention levels:nuts:

Answers:

While having not watched the film, and only just seen the trailer (with no sound), i already question the premise.
Surely several well placed smoke grenades or a couple of big lorries could obscure the view of the booth long enough for him to get out?

It was Ron Eldard orignally (from "ER", "Black Hawk Down" etc).

I've not seen the film, only the trailer, but spoiler tags for those that avoid trailers :
Try it with the sound on - the police think that he is the gunman (certainly at one point)

Yeah, how can you watch it without sound, that's the best part of the trailer! :nono:

There's a DTV Wesley Snipes/Linda Fiortino movie called 'Liberty stands still' with the EXACT same story gathering dust on the shelf of your local Blockbuster.

...which I really wanted to get because it isn't available anywhere else, but couldn't cause it has a rental pricing of some crazy J50 sort.

Answers:

liberty stands still is an appaling film, if phone booth is the same premise i'll be steering well clear.
BTW lenny i've a timecode dvd of it if you want it. it has a clock at the bottom of the screen, which is basically a forced subtitle. yours for a fiver if you want.

Alright, I'll get it! Only why is there a timecode counter? Some kind of advanced print or what. Is it the same quality as the rental? Is there a prutty cover? :dork:

Answers:

it's exactly the same as the rental dvd except for the locked sub. it's a preview dvd sent to rental shops so they can watch the film before release. there is no disc art, but the sleeve is the same but with 'promotion only' stamped on the back where the certificate is.
i've got a stack of these, other top titles include
me without you
last orders
zebra lounge
centre of the world
maybe one day decent companys will start sending me ones worth keeping:D

Also, he's not allowed to tell the police anything (about him being held hostage by a guy with a gun or tell them he's not the killer) cos otherwise, he'll be shot.

The trailer is fantastic - Keifer's voice is quite chilling but I have a feeling 24 has something to do with that. According to IMDB, it's pencilled in for a 15th November release in the US but the 7th of March next year over here  I also can't help wondering if it will be delayed, or not shown at all in the US, in the light of the gunman causing havoc in Maryland right now :oh-hum:

It's been sat on a shelf waiting for release for well over a year now.
So unless the snipper works for the marketing deptartment i think it's more likely thier waiting for Colin Farrel to become a box office draw.

I'm certainly looking forward to this one but I do have a few doubts. Ratings are high on IMdb, however it seems VERY short, running at only 80 minutes. I'm guessing there's only so much you can fit into this kind of film.
Plus it's a shame we have to wait till March 2003.

Short films r0x0r!!!!!1111
But, given the notoriously news jittery Hollywood machine, there's every chance of further delays because of that serial sniper killer in Washington at the moment...
EDIT: Ignore me, I'm repeating Mr Biggles.

That's about right, 'cause its events are happening in real time, kind of like '24' The Movie, so 80 mins is good. :dork:

I can't see any possibility of this film coming out on time in the US given what is going on over there right now.
It wouldn't be surprising if somebody in a phone box did get shot by the real sniper.

What's going over here anyway? :p I don't have TV or read any news.
