Film Trailers
Question:

Does anybody else think that film trailers these days are good at giving away important plot developments to the point that it can spoil the enjoyment of the film.
A couple that spring to mind are Swordfish and Sum of All Fears.
I know they are meant to entice people to see the film but sometimes they go too far.
Lets name and shame the worst offendors!!!

K-PAX, basicallt an abridged version of the film from beginning to end.

Serendipity - The trailer tell you everything.

What Lies Beneath is a fine 'spoiler' filled example. Not knowing anything about the final reel makes the film hugely more shocking!

HA! Whats that Reese Witherspoon movie coming out? "Sweet Home Alabama"? I havent seen it yet, (nor, do I plan on seeing it, ugh!), but after watching the trailer for it, it appeared to giveaway the whole movie! I dont care for Reese Witherspoon anyway, too much of an Alicia Silverstone clone I think, only difference being is that Alicia is totally hot.:norty: Look at me, Im, Im rambling on like a school girl hehe.

saw the trailer for "Swimf@n" before Signs, that gave away plenty. Also the Phone Booth trailer seemed quite spoiler-tastic.
One thing I realised though, after seeing the latest Red Dragon trailer (also before Signs), is that if you see a trailer after seeing the film or already knowing the plot (in this case from the book), it seems to give away a lot more.

I think Star Trek: Nemesis gives away too much in the trailer.
Does anybody kow why they're actually called trailers?

Answers:

At least you don't have to watch the trailers. I find some DVD menus far more annoying with regard to giving plot details away.

I think because they used to be shown after the films at the cinema, hence they 'trail'ed them.

What about good trailers?
I think the Scarface trailer is cool with the blood rolling over the still images to Tonys theme.
