Under-rated supporting actors?
Question:

Luis Guzman
Absolutley fantastic and hilarious in 'Out of Sight' with a great slot in 'Traffic' too.
I think the guy is sooo under rated, he can do the comedy and also very good at the serious, noteably with PTA in Boogie Nights/Magnolia.
Trouble is when they go A-List is when you're bound to get the drop in quality, J-Lo for instance.
At the moment i think he's one of the best supporting character actors in the biz. And just seen that he has a credit for GTA: Vice City on PS2.
Who's yours??

Answers:

The late J.T. Walsh
Lance Henriksen
Bill Macy

Agree, i watched the Goonies the other week and forgot he was in that too. He really has been round for sometime hasn't he.
Thought he did a great job on Memento.

The best supporting actor working in Hollywood right now is David Morse. I know he's had a few minor starring roles, but it's time he gets a leading role in a big film. He deserves it.
I thought Richard Jenkins was wonderful in Sea of Love and The Witches of Eastwick - but then I didn't see him again until his wonderful turn as the psychiatrist in There's Something About Mary. It's a shame he doesn't get more decent roles.

most definately.
i was wondering the same thing when i watched Memento for the first time the other week.
what about James Woods ? cant think of too many films where he had the lead. He was amazing in OUATIA, i thought his performace was better than De Niro's.

I wouldn't say that William H Macey,Luis Guzman and Joe Pantoliano are underated. They are all character actors so they'll will never get the lead parts in huge Hollywood movies.
They all tend to work all the time and I'm sure are respected in the movie biz as excellent character actors.

I hate to sound pedantic but Phillip Seymour Hoffman is another actor that isn't underated.
He works all the time in a variety of movies. However he is still a character actor so he'll never get a leading man role in a mainstream movie.

He had a leading man role in State and Maine

But thats not exactly a mainstream movie. :)
His love interest was Rebecca Pidgeon not exactly Julia or Nicole is it!!
The whole thing about all the character actors listed is that none are underated its just that the general public couldn't instantly put a name to their face if they saw them on screen.
