Answers:

The R2 speshul edition aint out yet. The Canadian R1 has rubbish packaging, but the US R1 version is good. The R2 will have DTS sound though and (correct me if i'm wrong) a few more speshul features.

Answers:

The R2 special edition is out today. (as is Jackie Brown)
As far as i know it's the same as the R1.

Answers:

Anyone have (either) in their mits yet for sound/pic quality etc. ?

Answers:

Well i have the R1's and the sound/picture quality is a big improvement over the original. ( well the original r2 of Jackie brown had a splendid picture but it was a flipper.)
Extra's wise Jackie Brown wins hands down mainly due to all the old Pam Grier trailers.

i'll ask here and look stupid rather than start a new one!
dvdcompare have this listed as 5.1dts and stereo, does it have a normal 5.1 track as my player cant do dts and i'm not getting a new player just for this film!

Answers:

Don't have the discs - but I'm sure the 5.1 will be the "regular" type as well as the DTS - would be pretty crazy if not !

It does have DD5.1

Answers:

so can any explain why it says 5.1 dts on dvdcompare, it says the tsame for the r1 Blade and the crow both of which i want but havent bought for this reason!!

Answers:

Just short-hand I guess. I don't know of any disc that has just a sole DTS 5.1 track and no separate regular 5.1 track.
Crow (SE) I do have and its got a 5.1 track and a DTS track.

Answers:

Its simply telling you that DTS is an option on the disc - virtually all discs that have DTS tracks will have also a DD 5.1 track. The only exceptions will be releases such as Saving Private Ryan, Galaxy Quest etc that have separate DTS and DD versions - if these don't exist then buy in complete safety

Answers:

good thank you all. although it does mean i have to spend more money now!

Answers:

Quite a nice case for Pulp Fiction- will be sticking with the R1 though. They could have made the same effort with Jackie Brown though

Answers:

Jackie Brown and Pulp Fiction R2's are both very good quality, loadsa extras and the packagaing is nice on both, especially the ends so they sit nicely together on my shelf!. They both have DTS too.

Answers:

Can someone who's got Pulp Fiction R2 please check if it's still cut? (the cut was made to the scene where John Travolta shoots up - you don't see the needle piercing his skin in the cut version).
It should in theory still be cut as there's no sign of it being resubmitted to the BBFC recently, but who knows... maybe BV released an uncut version by "mistake" :norty:

Answers:

Are the R2's Amaray cases in cardboard sleaves or digipacks?

Answers:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Pulp Fiction's a digipak and Jackie Brown is an Amaray in a slipcase a la The Rock Collector's edition.
(In case no-one saw it in the bargain forum, True Romance DC R2 is £14.99 at the moment at PLAY)
