Deaks are you a fan of Scifi and Babylon 5 and think it's cr@p, or are you not that fond of Scifi and think most Scifi's cr@p?
I haven't seen it yet, but I'm a big Babylon 5 fan, so I'd be interested to know.

I know Deaks to be a sci Fi fan.

BIG trekkie and TV sci-fi fan in general, didn't like B5 at first but got into it in about season three, got up to date and was hooked. I credit B5 (and X-Files) with changing the face of TV sci-fi from the self-contained eps of early Trek to the episodic on-going story we've come to expect.
I like: Trek, B5, Odyssey 5, Dead Zone, Stargate, Jeremiah.
I hate: Farscape, Andromeda.
B5: LOTR is just simply BAD. Without giving too much away they spend the entire second half just running around the ship sets talking. There's limited special effects, and what is there seems to be there just for the sake of it. Just wait to you see how the weapons on the ship are fired and you'll see what I mean.

Ok, thanks for the advice, I'm convinced. Shame really, but I've got a lot more important things to spend dosh on if it's not that good, so I'll catch it when it eventually turns up on the scifi channel.

This is the latest B5 TV movie right?
Where does its story fit in with the 5 seasons? I suppose it will be released in R1 as well after they're done with the season sets.

According to The Lurker's Guide to Babylon 5 (http://www.midwinter.com/lurk/countries/master/eplist.html) , The Legend of the Rangers comes just before the final episode of season 5 and just after the River of Souls TVM

Oh thanks, I have some time then, maybe it'll be out in R1.
I just thought it might have been a prequel of some sorts so then I'd need to get it before Season 1.

It isn't that bad - better than River of Souls. Perhaps on a par with Crusade. If you like B5 then you'll enjoy the LotR, but it isn't classic B5 by any means.

Down for an October release at DVD Times (http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=57456).

They buried this show by running it against the superbowl !, despite that it had suprisingly good ratings.
Whilst it wasn't that good it wasn't a dreadful pilot either, it might have even made a decent series wiht some more work and some good scripts. But in the B5 universe nothing really interesting happens between the end of S5 and the Drakh wars, the fall of Centauri happens almost entirely off stage and totally covertly.
If it was cheap I would consider it.

I'm a massive Babylon5 fan, and I didn't like it much. I'd much rather they'd spent the money they had left on some more stories for the established characters, or the telepath war etc.
