Great story about the Dawn of The Dead remake.
Question:

For those who don't know, there was rumour that Roger Avery (of Pulp Fiction and Killing Zoe) was going to re-make Dawn Of The Dead. Well, the ever reliable AICN has a pretty good story up regarding this rumour.
Even a partial fan of the film should read this, here (http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=13284)

Answers:

"...they want a director that can give it that MUMMY-esque quality..."
:oh-hum:
Although I can't say I'm sorry Roger Avery didn't get the film, hopefully it will enter development hell and never get made.

Answers:

Well as the Exec said, it's been written and they want to get it made, they just need a director and i'm sure they'll find some young guy to do it, just to make a name for himself.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it! (I apologise for the bad grammar)
Dawn Of The Dead is one of my favourite horror films of all time and half its charm is its dated-ness (?)
Don't mess with perfection :nono:

But they will. :brickwall

Yeah, Romero probably could improve on it now, we'll have to wait for Dead Reckoning to see. I wouldn't hold your breath for the guy behind Scooby-Doo to provide us with a masterpiece though.

Next thing you know they will be remaking Italian Job and King Kong;)

A re-make ??? Hmmmm well :brickwall

Dawn of the Dead worked because it was a low budget movie made out of Romero and Argento's love for horror movies. Take away Romero and Argento and you are left with a movie with no heart and no soul. Please Hollywood don't destroy another masterpiece, just for the sake of a few more bucks.
To everyone else don't go to see this drivel if it surfaces, stick with George and his Dead Reckoning, it'll be worth it!

Dead Reckoning: Romero's giant truck meets the living dead film sounds about as off the pace as every other piece of junk he's directed in the last 15 years. Ever wondered how the god of zombies managed to get canned from Resident Evil, the one film he should surely have been able to get right? He's lost it...

Answers:

Have you read Romero's script for Resident Evil - it was damn sight better than what we ended up with.
