Question:
A while ago I picked up 'On the Beat' (a Cinema Club edition) from Bensons and now I've just been back to order another to find that they've all been deleted.
Does anybody know where I can get them from? Online only though because I now live in the USA.
I know Norman Wisdom is outdated and it isn't exactly the height of British film, but the old stuff of his still brings a smile to my face.
Thanks
Colin
They are always in the HMV sales over here, so try www.hmv.co.uk
Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/index=dvd-uk&field-actor=Norman%20Wisdom/202-4600623-4171044) have them listed under 'limited availability'.
Maybe get a list of the titles and maybe punt them into www.*********************..

Don't apologise for liking Norman Wisdom or his films, they ARE classics of British Comedy.
Thanks
Sometimes I feel like I have to apologise for liking Noman Wisdom. I think it's probably because whilst other stars have either grown older gracefully, or passed away. He's still doing the same think he was doing fifty years ago, and to see him still yelling 'Mr. Grimsdale' at god knows how old takes something away from his original work. Of course there probably wouldn't have been comedians like Lee evans without Norman, and personally I feel Norman's stuff was as good as any american slapstick at that time.
My dad knew him and found him to be a very nice guy who did a lot of charity work, and visiting children's wards in hospitals without any press coverage. At the height of his fame he used to sneak into the hospital, talk to the kids, sign things for them, and then quietly leave.
You don't see much of that these days.
Colin
(Apologising for rambling on).
The same things happened to a whole bunch Will Hay DVDs, I noticed they were 6.99 each at Play. When I went back to order them a few weeks later they'd all disappeared from the site. I can't find the Will Hay disc anywhere either.:(
...perhaps they needed to make room for a complete set of restored, remastered George Formby movies...

I knew there was another reason I didn’t like Wisdom ;)
Still seem to be available to order at www.dvd.co.uk - Good luck!
Wisdom's film "A Stitch in Time" is one of my all time favourite comedies.
It never fails to have me choking with laughter.
The Will Hay films are being re-released with two films on the one disc, perhaps the same thing will happen to Norman's films.
