as i have said in the other forum, i thought it was quite average...and I completely disagree with your whole review :) but we each have our opinions.
M. Night Shyamalan, as far as I'm concerned, is one of the most exciting directors working in Hollywood today
nope, he just relies on shock tactics to make the audience think that they're in suspense. All 3 films have been along the same line in that they slowly build to a revelation in the end woowoo, how clever, flashback flashback, it's all clear now, how stupid of me not to realise that! ...he doesn't excite me
'Independence Day' from the point of view of a small family, but don't let that put you off, as it's a much better film than the poor blockbuster.
barely, at least Independance Day had some special effects to make up for the boring story that was unfolding
I can easily see this being regarded as a modern classic in say, ten years time
HA! I've forgotten it already...hopefully everyone else will too as it is nothing special
Final Score:
10/10
:shocker:
surely this should be reserved for films of greatness!!!??
...here come all the 'Signs' lovers to give me a good bashing

I agree with the review in part but not the score. It's an 8 1/2 for me but actually preferable (flame war alert) to the Sixth Sense. I've genuinely never had my skin crawl quite so much.
A lot of people have had a pop at the ending. Can anyone else really come up with anything better.
I'm sure they thought about the water thing. Probably got a forecast, came and got what they wanted, a harvest of people.
All the other endings have been done before, bacteria in War of the Worlds, Man wins in countless movies. Why not water, it's pretty much one of the most corrosive materials known to man

BEST FILM EVER MADE.

I'm gonna have to agree with TimJBart........ It never lived up to the hype surrounding it "Best film in years" - I dont think so!
I think that maybe the reason behind my dissapointment is that i had such great expectations! and it just didnt deliver.
In the other threads, People are moaning about the people that are picking holes in the plot, but this is the type of film that relies on the plot...... and the holes were just too big.
Dont get me wrong here, I have seen ALOT worse than Signs, and it wasnt that bad, just not as great as some people are making it out to be, but then I guess everyone has there own views!
(Dont even let me begin with the plot holes in Independence Day!!!!!!!!! ...... but it did have some good action set pieces)
Anyway, thats just my thoughts.....

A typical personal response.
Why do people find it so hard to believe that a film can have an effect on one person and not another.
I've seen plenty of horror films. None of them has made my flesh creep quite so succesfully. In fact the last film to make me feel like this was Arachnophobia.

Well, ive said what i think of this in one of the "other" threads on this subject.

Oh for God's sake. You merely have a different OPINION to that of the other poster. He thinks it IS the best film ever and if that is his truly held opinion he is entitled to it.
You on the other hand obviously hate it and that is equally valid.

Answers:

I thoroughly enjoyed it, but would only give it 8/10, as my review (link in my sig) suggests!

Did i not say it was my opinion?

SERIOUSLY, I think this is the best film I've seen to date. For many reasons, all are listed on other threads and I can't be bothered putting them here too, especially of they're going to get torn apart and insulted!.
CAPS LOCK was on to emphasise my excitement!
 :rocker: :notworthy  :)

Glad someone else loves this, definitely not the best film I've ever seen, but it would be in my top 50 I think, maybe even top 30 or something... Very very good... :) Still stand by my 10/10!

Answers:

I'd go for an 8/10 on this movie. Saw it a couple of weeks ago on preview and have been recommending it to my friends and any one else who will listen ever since.
Sure, it does seem as though M Night is just wheeling out a tried and tested formula once more, but I certainly enjoyed this movie more than Unbreakable.
Each to his own.

10/10?
Come on, it was okish but it wasnt even the best film of the year never mind one of the best of all time. Thats an insult.

Answers:

ArtyCarl? You Sir are an insult!:nono:
Why cant people accept other people's opinions?. My opinion is not an insult to many people, including Mel Gibson, M.Night Shyamalan and most others involved on the film. I'd appreciate their comments, but not yours.
Gethinnadin says 'Best Film'
ArtyCarl says 'okish'
We'll leave it at that. You can have your MenInBlack 2 and I'll have Signs.

Answers:

I think Men in Black 2 was awful, for the record... and 10/10 doesn't mean its the best film ever made in my opinion, far from it. I think it's an excellent, superb film, but there are at least 50 - 70 films I'd rate higher than this, meaning there are about 70 films in this world worthy of 10/10, probably a lot more, I just haven't seen them yet... Lawrence of Arabia gets 10/10, and so does Amelie. 2 VERY different films, but I enjoy them both, sure, LOA is a classic, epic, amazing etc, and amelie is a small, obscure film, but each effected me equally, albeit in very different ways.. I'm just trying to explain why I give 10/10 to certain films... and to me, Signs was a 10, a low 10, maybe a 9 and a half, but I don't do halfs, so for me it's a ten :):)

Answers:

Dont be offended, I meant it was an insult to the truly great films, not to any individual.
Yes we all have our opinions and thats what keeps these forums buzzing.

Answers:

No offence taken, as you said, we all have our opinions :):) And in my opinion, Shyamalan is nothing less than a genius making consistently brilliant films :)
