Personally, i dont think it's the best war film ever made, in fact i thought it was pretty average a war drama and i thought it had cheesy use of Han Zimmer score thrown in to pull at the heartstrings, but Ridley Scott puts a damn sight more effort into his DVDs (alien, gladiator, hannibal) and makes for a great commentary track, so i am considering buying this..

Yeah, I got the first R1 barebones release. R2 is gona be 2 discs SE but R1 SE is rumored to have more extras, probably even 3 discs, so wait for that.
There's going to be a 3-disc French R2 BHD. The upcoming R1 will propably be just like it.

I got the barebones R1 and its a great disc, the soundtrack is great. Probably not the best war movie ever made but no where near the worst. Worth owning IMHO.

R4 has been out for a while (21st August I believe) - single disc, but at only about 9 quid I'm not complaining, I only really want it for the film.
I must make time this weekend to watch it - preferably early afternoon so I can crank the volume! :)
Bought it in May (R3), watched it, sold it on ebay... It seems they put the action sequences into a loop for the duration of the film. Very repetitive stuff, gets monotonous after a while.

They had an interview with the dvd producer discussing this when they released the plain 1 disk R1 version a few months back. Should still be on there somewhere.
Disk 3 is supposed to be real life documentaries on the war in Somalia from History Channel or similar (think it was the 2 hour - 1.5 without ads they had on the History Channel on Sky a few weeks ago this was superb I will wait).
Haven't caught this film yet, but will definetely wait for the Region 1 release - by the sounds of it, it will be the best version by far...
I loved every minute of it!! The special edition can't come soon enough :norty:

This is one of the best war movies I've ever watched.
The fast paced action and constant change of camera angles (and film stock) really helped to keep this movie in top gear all the way through.
The only downside I could see about this movie was that it was based on real events. :(
