Question:
After watching the shocking but ultimately important documentary on 9/11 last night on BBC1, I thought I would like to own a copy of it for the future.
I've looked on Play247 but in the availability it just says 'T.B.A', anyone know the reason behind this? I thought it had been released for quite some time now.
Its avaliable on R2 DVD now. Woolworthes have it for £13.99- thats high street not online
Asda have it for £12.99.
I taped the Documentry last night cos I was working:( but I didn't realise that there was a second part at 10.35pm, I thought it was just 1 And 1/2 Hours long. So I missed the rest. Damn. I'm gonna get this on disc!
Yeah.....i've just bought it from Woolies myself....after missing it last night....and have just watched it ,a superb doco, very very harrowing too:(
I missed the broadcast last night and have just purchased the dvd for £13.49 from MVC a dvd im not eagerly looking forward but feel compelled to watch after my wife telling me about it. Just skipped through some of the footage (there are no chapter stops ) and a chill ran down my spine, perhaps the most important documentry ever made ...time will tell.

I have a feeling the famous 8 hr marathon documentary on the Holocaust (I forget the name of the person it was made by) will always take that mantle.
for those that missed it on TV and who haven't got the DVD yet, it's on BBC Choice tonight at 8.30pm - I think I'll be taping it this time....

...what about 'The World at War'...I would think that was a lot more 'important'!
...why would anyone pay good money to own this, are you really going to watch it more than once?

I have to agree with both your points. World at War is IMO the most importnat docuemtnary ever made although an argument could be made for Shoah.
9/11 was an excellent film but I don't think it would bear rewatching.

I know what your saying but i think it's important to remember the events that happened. Having gone 9-10 months without seeing that footage seeing it again recently really brought back all those feelings and what truely happened to the world that day.
I'm going to buy it as a permenant reminder that times can change when you least expect them and perhaps it'll educate my kids (when i have them) not to take life for granted.
Exactly the same reason i bought it, a permanent record of that fateful day in history:( :oh-hum:
I thought it was well done but much too popularised to be a great documentary. De Niro's introduction and the ridiculously melodramatic narration were often laughable.
I agree with Pauline Kael that Shoah is basically a "long moan" and I don't think it's especially essential. Marcel Ophuls' Hotel Terminus and Resnais' Night And Fog are much better on the subject of the Holocaust.

Are we talking about the same thing here????
HenryKrinkle you would buy it because at least $100,000 is going to help the Firemen.
