Adam Sandler is normally a big no-no for me too, but I love Boogie Nights and Magnolia, and it seems P T Anderson can do no wrong, making Punch Drunk Love a must-see for me - despite the presense of Mr Sandler!
I think Sandler has this nice sudden psycho rage that'll do great for the character, I can't wait for it as well, though all the other Adam Sandler movies are terrible.

Hell indeed has frozen over - I agree with Jimmyboy! I don't get the anti-Adam Sandler thing. Sure he's made a couple of duds, but you must have a serious lack of humour if u do not find Happy Gilmore and The Wedding Singer funny.

Judging others' tastes strictly as a measure of your own ... jeez... I quite like The Wedding Singer - it's funny in parts but it's also pretty charming beneath for Hollywood. I like the work of PT Anderson very much and I suspect Sandler will excel in his film. But Happy Gilmore is a laughter-free zone and I really do feel that saying that says more about that film than any "lack of humour" I might have !

I love all Adam Sandlers films. I guess i like stupid humor like a lot of his films are.
Speaking as an avowed Sandler fan I’m willing to admit that The Waterboy and Billy Madison are indeed crimes against cinema while Little Nicky is just plain weird. The rest of his oeuvre ranges from the excellent (Wedding Singer, Happy Gilmore) to the merely good (Bullet Proof, Big Daddy). His Saturday Night Live stuff is also well worth checking out.
It’s the involvement of PTA which is more likely to ensure I give this a wide berth although I find it absolutely hilarious that all those Magnolia (like watching magnolia!! dry) lovers are gonna be plonking down their five quid to watch an Adam Sandler flick. For that, and that reason alone, I say :notworthy to PTA.

enjoyed mr deeds, but having watched the trailer for punch and seeing all you sandler bashers saying you're looking forward to it..... i'm worried :(
There's nothing wrong with Adam Sandler that a good script and director can't cure. As PTA has made two of my favourite films of the last few years (and I really must get round to watching <i>Hard Eight</i> again) there's no way I'm missing <i>Punch-Drunk Love</i>.
As for Sandler, <i>The Wedding Singer</i> wasn't at all bad. Haven't seen any of his other films.
