Question:
As you are aware the Region 2 Japanese release is arriving on shelves on October 4th. Personally i can not wait. What you may not know is that the english dub available IS the new Disney dub featuring James ''Dawson's Creek'' Van der beek. Who knows if this will enhance or destroy the viewing pleasure we will see.
cheers all.
ps. i found this on the nausicaa. net web site. There are some problems accessing the site. It seems partially crashed.
Japanese Releases
Tenkuu no Shiro Rapyuta
(Laputa: Castle in the Sky)
Format:
DVD (Region 2, NTSC)
Publisher:
Buena Vista Home Entertainment
Date:
4 October 2002
Catalog #:
VWDZ-8014
Runtime:
124 minutes
Price:
¥4700
Notes:
2 Discs. Japanese and English audio (both DD 2.0) with Japanese and English subtitles. The English audio track is the Disney dub. Second disc contains storyboards, trailers, and other extras.
I also can't wait for this one, although I'm put off paying such a high price for a product where I won't understand all the bonus featues. I'd imagine that the R1 version should be out within a few months (not at the same time to avoid the Japanese buying the cheap R1 version). If the dub is anything like the Princess Mononoke dub, it'll be v. good.
If you can't wait for the US release then there'll probably be a 2 disc R3 version available in October (with Japanese 2.0/cantonese5.1)
cheers all.
