Question:
Wathcing a copy of the 2 disc Atlantis, I noticed some problems with the sound on both the 5.1 and DTS soundtrack, there is a minimal pause between each chapter break.
Before returning it, I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem?
Cheers Tony
I noticed that too, although for me, the IMAGE froze for a fraction of a second but the sound kept playing fine. Another Disney DVD problem no doubt.
Hmmm didn't notice anything like that on my Sony DVD player, great DTS soundtrack :p
No probs on my Tosh 100E.
Cheers for the replies, I'll send it back and try another copy
Tony
I think you'll find that any copy has the same problems. It only happens on one of my players. Put it down to yet another side effect of Disney refusing to comply to DVD standards.
I think this is possibly a side effect of the visual commentary on the disc, which automatically branches when the commentary track is on. The dips must happen at each branching point.
Plays OK on my player. (R1 version).
Does anyone know that Disney actually do ignore the DVD standards. I know Dinosaur was in error, but could it not be an honest mistake - I mean, the authoring software obviously allowed the header to be written incorrectly, so it could be an honest mistake.
I know Disney insist on this Disney DVD nosense for their Disney discs, but their Miramax, Dimension, Touchstone and Hollywood Pictures releases all proudly wear the official DVD logo.
I think the Disney DVD moniker is only for branding purposes.

The dips must happen at each branching point. They don't. They happen at each chapter stop (about 18, compared to 6 or 7 visual commentary breaks).
