Question:
I just learnt that Andre Niccol's new film "Simone" (or 'S1m0ne' for those who prefer) has been released in the cinemas in the US. I loved "Gattaca" and am eagerly waiting for 'Simone'! Has anyone heard of its release in the UK?
There a v.short thread about it here (http://Here.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=111035&highlight=s1m0ne), and it's due out here 25th Oct. :)
As posted on the t'other thread.
Just caught a preview for it and have to say it is the weakest film I've seen this year. Not even Pacino could save this stinker...
D'oh ! Thought the other thread was in the review forum - a double bump ! Maybe one of these bad-boys should be closed...
Yeah, not mine though! I was a couple of weeks first, have the correct title, and it's way better looking. :D :oh-hum:
"I'll get me coat" or something.
I just watched this on DVD, I think it's a wonderful film. Clever, funny and I didn't look at my watch once through out the film.
Strange! I watched this too last night and was searching around the Forums to see if there was any discussion about this film and there's virtually (no pun intended) none!
Not sure I would go as far as wonderful but I certainly enjoyed it a great deal. Did it get a UK theatrical release? Pacino gave the same performance he has for the past ten or fifteen years but that aside I thought it was a nice little sideswipe at Hollywood and the media and the general obsession with all things celebrity. The plot didn't go anywhere unexpected but it was well filmed and had a good supporting cast.
I didn't look at my watch either... but then I don't wear one!
Well worth checking out IMO.
Andrew
Enjoyed it too.
Was somewhat put off by all the negativity that surrounded its release, but gave it a go because I'd been looking forward to it for a good while and was glad I did.
Wonder if it was so disliked because it was too close to home for some of those dishing out the criticism?
I find the satirical take on the media/Hollywood quite refreshing and funny. Especially when she won the Oscar.
