They look pretty plain and boring!
Look just fine to me, but then fancy animated menus can become a pain in the butt, so something a little plain can be a blessing.
Nice :)
i also thought they looked pretty good. animated menus are like flash intros to websites - cool the first time, okay the next couple of times, and then incredibly irritating (however technically impressive) from then on because you have to wait for them to get to what you want.
these menus look smart, are well-themed and fit the style started by the first disc. furthermore, the correct bits are animated. there may not be animated links or backgrounds, but the small chapter views will be animated like last time.
They have retained the look and feel of TPM which will probably lead to convincing looking 'leaks'/fakes of the original trilogy at some point!!! :p
Also the Slave 1 menu probably has an animated Fett/Obi Wan fight, from the look of it.
Looks good, i always did like the random scenes that come up that they did for the original release. As long as all the FBI, Piracy warning etc are not as long as they are on the original disc it'll be a bonus.
nevermiond the menus! i only hope Lucas is letting us change subtitles and audio on the fly, unlike TPM, where you had to go through the menu each time!
why?
i dont care about the menus, i just wish it was the original theatrical version being released, and not a "fiddled about " version by mr. "i'm not quite satisfied, lets change it some more" Lucas :nono:
the original theatrical version wasnt the greatest film ever made though was it?
I bet Lucas is just tidying some effects.. And if he's removed an unintentional funny moment, it can only be for the best, surely?
so some alteration of incidental scenes wont make a difference. It's the good scenes that should be left untouched.
it is the theatrical version being released. okay, it's not the 35mm print, but it is the digital 'print' with a few corrections here and there. this is all just stuff that was decided upon prior to release but that there wasn't time to fix/adjust/finish.
it's hardly accurate or fair to brand the dvd as a different "version".
Ah, Ive seen better..:oh-hum:

Well, they've again added/changed a few lines since the digital version, so that really does class it as a slightly different edition.
Which means it'll have to be re-classified by the BBFC - perhaps they'll accept the 12 certificate this time.
but it's SO minor. for all intents and purposes it won't affect the film at all. i personally don't think that warrants referring to it as a separate 'edition' or 'version'.
I agree it's fairly minor indeed - but i quite like the sound of the change to the "Anakin confessing" scene. It sounds like it makes more out of a key scene. Anything with extra/differnet dialogue counts as a different version - however minor or major the change.
See here for more details on the main change:

cool. sounds potentially promising. i just hope the extra length doesn't hamper that scene. i guess if it's quality stuff then it won't matter. thanks for the link gavin.
roll on end of october!
i see TFN have added two new menu shots to the previous six:
