Question:
What does everyone think is the best headshot in a film ever? My top 10 in no particular order
10. The elevator hit in The Untouchables
9. Sam Jackson getting it in Goodfellas
8. Sollozo and the police chief in The Godfather
7. the shot that blinds Jenny in The Killer
6. head explosion in Maniac
5. the soldier who removed his helmet in Saving Private Ryan
4. Little Bill in Boogie Nights
3. the little zombie girl in The Beyond
2. Dawn Of The Dead head splatter
1. When Pacino guns down the man who chansawed his bud in Scarface
I know ive missed loads that are probably much better.
anyone?
Full Metal Jacket's suicide scene has the best brain-outtage in my opinion
And then some.....:):shocker:
mm forgot that one. dang
What a charming thread :D
Erm... i guess the one in Pulp Fiction is quite memorable and unsettling as is the one in Fight Club.
When Murphy is shot in Robocop - quite adventurous little bullet.
JFK ?
How about Nobu's collar explosion at the start of Battle Royale...
More like a head removal from body than a head shot but hey who's that picky?
When DeNiro tries to hold in Chris Walken's brains at the end of Deer Hunter.
Also a few in 'Bullet in the Head'
Been a long time since i saw it but isn't there quite a disturbing one at the end of '187' with Sam Jackson??
Does the cat in Boondock Saints count? (The bullet could have conceivably gone through it's head)......
:D
Two words:
"Dodge this"
the young girl innocent bystander getting it at the bus stop in violent cop
Anything shot from Peter North.;) :shocker:

vivid memories of that one.
Also, at the end of Brubaker and one of the Omen films (can`t remeber which one).
Kevin Spacey getting it from behind in American Beauty. :norty:
The guy sitting in his car in Maniac. Tom Savini at his best!
EDIT: oops! just noticed that one at no6 in your list.
I really should read properly before i reply :(
Some very impressive head-shots in the latest Mel Gibson movie "We were soldiers" - particularly one at the beginning.
Not really caused by a gun but.............Scanners!

What movie was that from ?
I remember "Swallow This" from Evil Dead 2, but I can't place your quote
What movie was that from ?
Obviously the Matrix does not have you...
Also a very good splattage in the Untouchables where DeNiro is holding a dinner party for some of his employees and decides to tell them about a man's "enthusiasms"... with a baseball bat.
the one in Starship Troopers is pretty good imo
What about the unfortunate guy in 'The Patriot'?
The last scene in Fight Club, or the enraged female motorist in Out For Justice.

Well if you are going to start quoting obscure art-house flicks then I won't stand a chance

I quite liked that one as well - Poor Marvin :( :D
the cannonball shot in Glory
The suicide at the end of Combat Shock is uncomfortably realistic.
Most surprising would be the end of Cradle of Fear.
Most brilliantly gory and shocking would be Non ho Sonno.
Good 'under-the-chin-with-a-double-barrelled' in Wild at Heart, too. :)
When Bill Duke comes to a messy end in Predator.
The one at the start of Hart's War is pretty shocking too.
I just remembered the mother of all headshots...
Newscaster Suicide
Its an old black and white clip. You can get it off Kazaa.
Enemy at the gates - when the guy with the glasses pokes his head out to find the sniper:nuts:
Saving Private Ryan - when the door of the boat goes down.
Maniac - Shotgun blast to head.:rocker:
Predator - When Bill Duke pokes his head from under the log and his brains get squirted all over the camera lens.
Another vote for Maniac :)

I looked at that one on frame-advance and the animatronic head, while well made, looks nothing like the actor it's meant to be. Still a sickening moment, though.
Oh, and what about the one in Predator? Sper-latt!
what about when the convict tries to run when the security systems arent down in running man???
I think Marvin got shot in the car in Pulp Fiction is the best one, totally not expected. I almost actually jumped out of my seat, most of the others are just standard pistal in the head and brains splatter and predictable.

There is about 20 cool headshots in DAWN OF THE DEAD. They just get better and better.
There is only one contender:
Bobby Peru (Willem Dafoe) in Wild at Heart :shocker:
Legolas shooting from the collapsing stairs in FOTR.
The end fight in Blade has a good one also.
