Monsters Inc. - no full screen version?
Question:

Just received the 2 disc set of Monsters inc. this morning and it looks fantastic - but I thought there was supposed to be a full screen transfer included (as was the case with a Bug's Life).
This would have been the preferred method for watching on my 4:3 TV set.
Did I just imagine the news that this would be included? Or is the fact that the film is in 1.85:1 ratio rather than 2.35:1 preclude the need for one?

Answers:

Which region did you get? On Play247 they list the R2 2 disc collectors edition as 1.85:1 , and the 1 disc family edition as 4:3

Whenever disney release their 1 disc and 2 disc sets such as monsters inc, tarzan atlantis in the UK the 2 disc set is widescreen and the 1 disc version is pan & scan. They do this because they feel that a film purist will buy the 2 discs, and the kids will want the pan & scan with no extras

I got confused by What Hi Fi on this issue. They reported the format of the film as both 1:33 and 1:85. I assumed they were both included on the Collector's Edition. I think what they meant was that the cheaper Family Ed. is 1:33 and the CE 1:85.

Region 1 version.
Very nice package, no multilingual cover (for those that fixate on such things).
I just get so jealous when I watch the behind the scenes tours at PIXAR. Those guys look like they have a blast. What I wouldn't give to work in a place that gave such good job satisfaction...

Actually the Canadian version does have a French version included* flash on the front which will probably disappoint those who, as you put it, are fixated on such things. :)
Oh, and I totally agree about the behind the scenes stuff. That'd be one top job.
(*in French, but I wasn't even gonna try and remember the correct translation)

Does anyone have a scan of the actual Canadian cover?
If there's too much French crap on it I will probably cancel my order.

walrus - you got mail.
(I'm sorry but I don't have the facility to post pics on the forum yet - although if anyone else would like to host it, I will email them a copy)
I think you can safely keep it on order. There is no other language on the spine or the back of the cover.
The only mention of it (as has pointed out above) is a small circle on the front cover - so minor, I'd even forgotten about it.
This might be a good idea for a thread - where people can post scans of the covers they have - to give people an informed opinion on which region release they wish to go for. What does everyone think?

Answers:

Thanks to The Beyond for sending me the cover scan. It looks fine, I shall keep my order at DVD Soon.
