Question:
Does anyone know of any plans to release a Blade 1 & 2 box set?
Someone asked this not so long since.
The answer was basicly NO but why would you want a box set now when there making another film?
Plus Blade2 is terrible IMHO
yeah i thought the first was so much better.
i didnt even know what Blade II was about, just cos i didnt really care.
not sure whether to get the DVD to please the family.
blade 2 was nowhere near as good as blade,it was still good watch thru
as we all now their where just cashing in after the first 1 was a hit,
i think blade was a good as the matrix,if not better

Would have to disagree with you there as The Matrix took action films to a new level and inspired the kind of slo mo bullet time action sequences we are seeing in films like blade 2, brotherhood of the wolf and so on.
Blade is an excellent film and I have to agree that it's way better than its sequel. However, the Matrix remains untouched in terms of action sequences and the whole "that's really cool" ethos.

But didn't Blade kind of do the slow-motion bullet thing first? ;)

I don't remember seeing it in any of Blade (1)?

Yup. Steven Dorf's bad guy does some slow motion bullet dogging in Blade 1. They even have the vapour trails behind the bullet.
Mind you, National lottery ads were doing bullet time before the Matrix came out.

Sure it did that, and the lobby shootout (crumbling marble columns included), and the leap flying through the window to the next building's rooftop, and this, and that, and that...
MATRIX is great, is incredibly great, and it's probably better "rounded" –and no doubt much better written– as a whole than BLADE, but BLADE certainly came first with many visual discoveries that many people are crediting to MATRIX now. To me, Stephen Norrington is a real visionary, and he directed David Goyer's so-so script with such panache that it become a serious, solid piece of filmwork.
Besides that, there's a whole lot of other movies and comic books that the Wachowski Bros are indebted to. Just go and rewatch Alex Proyas' THE CROW and, specially, DARK CITY with its retro-look and the whole reality-as-a-mind-figment theme, or visit your nearest comic book shop and pick up some Grant Morrison's THE INVISIBLES. You'll be amazed how much from all of this turned out later in THE MATRIX.
;)
I've just remembered this link!

Go take a look, it's certainly worthy!
But just as a preview, you can compare these images. The ones on the left are from DARK CITY, whereas those on the right are from THE MATRIX. Enjoy!

The Matrix and Blade are both excellent films and both have action sequences that put others to shame. I just love The Matrix as it totally blew me away when first watching the trailer.
It was also the film we watched when we had finished our last exam in Uni.:D
I just can't wait for the sequels.
 :notworthy :rocker:
It was me who asked the other week, and people said a 3rd film was expected, and to wait for a box set of them.
In response to Roy Batty and to coin a phrase: "Whoah!" :D
I never saw Dark City but think I might check it out after this. Most of the similarities are uncanny.
Dark City is fantastic, i didnt really know what to expect on the first viewing.
much better than Matrix i think, but then they probably arent the same type of film.
To be fair they are different types of film. Dark city is slower paced, and definitely feels darker, literally and symbolically (probably comes from the gothic edge that proyas likes so much). Of course it also stars the ever delectable Jennifer Connelly, which might be why I like it so much (but I am a big Alex Proyas fan).
