Question:
The Powerpuff Girls movie release has been announced for R1.
DVDToons has the details here (http://www.dvdtoons.com/news/134)
But Warners are releasing it in P&S only!
Why? Why? Why? Have they not learnt their lesson by now? Don't they understand that *all* movies should be released in their OAR? Don't they understand that's why we bought DVD players in the first place? What else can we do to get the message across?
Note the materials specifically state Pan and Scan - not Full Frame - so I doubt this will be an open matte transfer (which is just as bad anyhow IMO).
Having had the pleasure of seeing the Powerpuff Girls movie it really needs to be widescreen. It easy to see when watching the film that the background artist's had a field day designing for the big screen.
Where's the petion!
Unfortunately the film hardly set the US box office alight and it's probably why Warner's are going P&S. Sounds like the sort of decision the Mayor of Townsville would have made...
surely due to the fact its primarily a kids film they are aiming at the market that has got a dvd player but doesn't worry about a widescreen tv, or secondary players in kids bedrooms. I'm not supporting their decision just rationalising it
I'm sorry, but it's statements like the above which really annoy me. Surely the whole point of DVD is the enhanced sound and vision. And I don't call snipping 20%+ of an image 'enhanced'.
While you may nor be supporting their decision, I suppose you would he happy to give the same reasons for Disney panning and scanning the UK release of 'Sleeping Beauty', or the R1 version of 'Muppet Treasure Island'?
no, i completely agree theres no excuse for not presenting a film in its proper aspect/ratio whatever but there is a reason, all be it a really bad one
EDIT oh and Sleeping Beauty wouldn't bother me, but don't go mucking with the muppets!!
