Question:
Does anyone have this Chris Nolan film on DVD? I really want to see it, and I guess buying it will be the only way of me doing this. Is the DVD any good?
I also see Play don't have it. What's a good Region 1 supplier that a) stocks it, and b) is reasonably priced?

I have it. I'm sure I bought it from Play, but I may be mistaken.
hang on - I've just checked adn it IS available on Play! And it's in Stock too. It's only available on R1 which is what may have caused the confusion. £15-99 to you, guvnor.
:)
I think it's pretty good. The film is quite similar to Memento structurally, although the storyline is completely different. It's a very low budget production compared to his later output, but the picture and sound quality of the DVD is very good considering.
Haven't listened to the commentary yet, so I couldn't tell you what that's like.
Deffo worth a purchase if you enjoyed Memento.

THANK YOU! I'm not sure how I missed it.... actually, something seems to be up with Play's homepage. It's only displaying Region 2 on the drop-down search
Anyway, order now placed. Cheers! :smokin:
And thanks to oscar for those links too, the Chris Nolan site looks pretty interesting. I've bookmarked that one for later...
Rollo
glad to have helped you out.

Thanks for the Play link as I was only finding it through amazon.

a bummer, does anybody else know where to get this ?
Both Following / Memento are part of a double bill at The Cameo in Edinburgh this weekend

I say, I recently obtained mine (and at a most reasonable price, I may add) from Deep Discount (www.deepdiscountdvd.com), old bean.
top film, pretty good dvd. it's not as good as memento but i found it really interesting from a film making point of view to see how he got to memento. following is a kind of stop gap between that and a conventional storytelling style.
it's good, but i don't know if its good enough to buy.
you can catch it on filmfour every now and then if its any help.
I bought the R1 and just adore this film. As mentioned above, it is not on a par with Memento, but I knew that before viewing it, and if you accept it on its own merits , it is a fascinating bit of filmmaking and the acting is superb. I am a huge fan of Nolan's and his signature chrono-manipulation is utilised in Following.
May be a help to some, the cameo cinema in edinburgh is showing this on Sunday(1st) in a double bill with memento

Have you seen Insomnia yet? Although there's not really any chrono-manipulation (nice word!), it's definitely still worth watching, if only for the performances alone. They showed a clip from Following at the preview I attended, hence my eagerness to see it! :smokin:
Rollo
Where did you see the preview this weekend ? Edinburgh or London
i want to see insomnia but it has a lot to live up to, bith in comparison with nolan's previous work and the excellent original.
I saw it in London on Tuesday... there was also an interview and Q & A with Christopher Nolan afterwards that was pretty interesting.
in Edinburgh it lasted for two hours, with a great Q&A as well
how long was it in London ?

'bout an hour and a half - an interview for an hour, then half an hour of questions from the audience. A lot of what Nolan had to say was really interesting and the clip from Following sold it to me (nice bit of marketing there!). They also showed his short film 'Doodlebug', which was quite amusing :p
Rollo
They did not show Doodlebug there. I was intrigued by Following as well in regards how it was made on a shoestring budget and the handheld camera work. That it was shot in B&W was also a bonus.
:smokin:
They were filming the whole interview at the London one, so perhaps it'll make it's way onto the Insomnia DVD when it's released. :)
funny you should mention that they were filming there, same time in Edinburgh
