Anyone got any audio details on these disks?
Especially, do they have sub-titles?
Cheers,
Alex.

...strange that people should talk about this as if it concerns a new release... these movies have been out on French DVDs since almost a year... each of those ten DVD-9 discs contains two stories, all are 1.33:1, with optional French, Spanish or English mono soundtracks and optional English subtitles...
...I think...

In France these discs have been on a special "2 for 1" offer for a while. You can get any 2 discs for about €20, which is a pretty good deal. See:

I saw them in HMV last night.
Are they any good? Love the books but worried about some sort of bodged translation to animation. Also does Captain Haddock have a Scottish accent? Always imagined he would have for some reason......(maybe it's the whisky :))

Answers:

you;ve never seen them on TV ?
it was pretty good !!

I have vague re-collections, it seemed like many moons ago though! Need a refresher review!

Known fault, it was the same authoring house that did Suspiria. (they had faulty equipment)
Fixed tin tin discs are available, the address is on anchor bays forum: http://www.anchorbay.co.uk/forum/showthread.php3?threadid=468

Bad news for volume 2 which suffered from lip-synch but to a lesser degree- here's their response:

Dear all
I've re-examined the audio on Tin tin disc two and I'm happy this is within acceptable parameters for a dubbed film. I've also compared the DVD against the Master Tape supplied to us for encoding and again find the audio to be within acceptable parameters

Steve Bell
to which I answered
I.e. no recall? - Is "acceptable parameters" an admission of defect but not sufficient to warrant a recall then?
Can't say i'm in the least bit happy with AB at the moment - hardly ever answering the forums then threatening to shut them down when things get too hot, and now drafting in some legal jargon writer to do some damage control - or maybe I'm being a little unfair :D
Still I hope they get their act together once and for all - they could do so much better but they seem to be trying hard to emulate Tartan ;)
