2002 Cinema releases on DVD
Question:

was just reading on DVDtimes about a bunch of big 2002 cinema releases (inc. Lilo & Stitch, MiBII, xXx, Stuart Little 2) being rushed out on DVD before the end of the year - am i being paranoid in thinking that most of these (if not all) will probably end up being re-released as Special Editions within 6-9 months?!
this suggestion was hinted at in the article on Lilo & Stitch (which is the main one i'm after) as Disney have done it before with Tarzan as mentioned - but they've also done it in the UK with Sleeping Beauty (altho i believe we're still waiting for the 2-disc w/s edition)

I'm not sure that Disney have treated the US in the same way as the UK. Certainly, I recall getting Tarzan on the same date as the one disc version but it's so long ago I'm sure that's wrong. Atlantis was certainly available as two versions immediately and most of the Pixars have been (Bug's life excepted).
The Sleeping Beauty thing is just barking. The two disc french version is pretty much what the UK should have got and indeed will get later in the year.
I would imagine Lilo will get a simultaneous Collectors and Standard edition release as is the case with Monsters Inc etc.
