Question:
www.criterionco.com shows that Criterion have officially announced Le Mepris and Solaris for november.
Solaris appears to be a single disc set with the same interviews as the Ruscico/Artificial Eye disc, but with an commentary by Vida Johnson and Graham Petrie, and nine deleted/alternate scenes.
Le Mepris appears to be a real treat. 2 disc with new Raoul Coutard approved anamorphic scope transfer and a critical commentary. the second disc includes alot of interview stuff including a 1967 hour-long conversation between JLG and Fritz Lang.
thank God my birthday falls in November! after a period of, shall we say, much discussed releases from Criterion, and including COlonel Blimp, this is really ending the year in fine form (until they get bumped of course!)
so can anyone comment on the dvd of Le Mepris (Contempt)?
Will this be the version to get?
(I did a search and this is the only thread for either "Le Mepris" or "contempt")
cheers
Richie
ah!
just found a post from jimto (on a Criterion thread) saying:
"I've just got hold of their edition of Godard's Contempt (Le Mepris) an it's on of the best discs ever, let alone on Criterion."
so that's good then! :)
