Sorry, Anyone else find they often walk into HMV etc and buy some "average" movies on DVD just cause they had a 2 for 1 offer?
I hate the urge of buying :(
What ones did you buy??
last two 'impulse' buys were Forrest Gump and Coming To America nothing average about those movies...........although i bet a lot of peeps will disagree. :D
Well not really average, i bought some good movies. But some i think...am i really gonna watch it again?
Like what??:
Why so vague?
Last two impulse buys where Con Air:thumbs: and LOTR:thumbs: and I never regretted either purchase.
I used to have Stepmom on DVD! No, seriously!

I think I still have it :shocker: Those kids treating Julia Roberts like crap, I wanna beat them upside the head.
I once bought Wild Wild West as an impulse "I've never seen the film but the disc looks good" purchase. *shudder*
Thankfully I 'generously' gave it to a mate
Wild Wild West is truly awful.
By the way Steven................"I 'ate you Butler" :D
I bet i'm the first person ever to say that aren't i ?

I agree, neither is average. They're both completely abysmal.
My own last impulse buy was the very cheap R2 of David Lean's surprisingly good This Happy Breed for £3.99 in HMV. It's a really interesting slice of social history and certainly puts the endless detritus of his later career into proper perspective. How could this efficient, intelligent director have ended up making sandcastles, pseudo-Russian Soap and a film as artistically arid as Ryan's Daughter ?

My last impulse buy was Traffic Criterion, and it's brilliant.

Ignore him, he just slated Coming To America. :oh-hum:
We are in New York now.....etc etc. :D
I used to do this all the time with VHS, but I promised myself never to do it with DVD. So far, in 3.5 years, I have managed to stick to that promise...
I think that there's a certain type of film that the boxes look really cool, but the films themselves are really average. Recently bought D-Tox and 3000 Miles to Graceland, not knowing a lot about them and they both left me cold.
i remeber buying battlefield earth !!!!
It has pride of place on my desk...................making sure i dont get coffee cup ring on the desk !!!
Though i may try an melt it into an ashtray...............hmmmm
