Memento - Chronological Version Or Not ?
Question:

Dear All,
Finally got round to watching Memento last night, mainly as I've been meaning to for ages and also because I want to go see Insomnia this week.
Superb movie and make no mistake, even though it's completely whipped up in places.
Now, the question is, do I sit and watch the chronological edit or will that just confuse the issue even more ? ?
Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.
TIA

Answers:

I thoughroughly enjoyed the film, but it wasn't until i watched the chronological edit, that i was 100% sure that i had understood it
You should definetely watch it.

havent tried it myself but I think the chronological edit will be rubbish, its not the way the film was intended to be played so Im guessing it wouldnt work as well.

only just watched the film yesterday as well, having had it for months, watched the chronological edit today and it makes for a less interesting film imo, probably because it's easier to follow so you don't get as involved - they could have edited it better, I thought, to remove the small overlaps as each section came together.
I'd watch it but don't expect to be as impressed with it as the conventional edit.

I have watched the film quite a few times in its original form...and managemed to figure out what happened exactly...
I watched it the other day in the chronological way and it ruins the film completely!
I suggest you watch it the way it was intended!!

It's not really re-edited is it? I thought that they just reverse the chapters.

they put all the b&w stuff with him on the phone doing the explaining about the condition and Sammy ?Jenkis? at the start and then put the colour material where he goes through the process of finding his killer together unedited

Answers:

The chapters are shown in a different order.
I found my DVD player on my computer couldnt handle this at times and sometimes skipped a chapter...
I really need a proper DVD player!!

it just seems an interesting extra from what ive read, defo worth watching but of course nothing compared to the proper version. better than 10 pages of still photos or something :-)
