Movies are so crap nowadays......
Question:

Watched 5 movies at the cinema over the last week or two and I must say that the quality has dropped so much:
Eight Legged Freaks - was waiting ages for this and dodgy animation, pathetic "acting", no story (except for the usual "you can see it coming from the first second plot"), stupid noises made by the spiders which sound like something a 3 year old would find funny, no suspense etc etc
MIB2 - blatant rip off of the first film, MIB's treated as complete idiots by giggling and treating everything as a joke now. Only reddeming features were the dog (loved his singing), Jeff and the worm guys / princess.......
Reign Of Fire - couldn't you just see the predictable ending coming.....if they knew the male lived in London all that time, why didn't they just nuke the city and finish the dragons off??? Also, the same stereotypical characters once again. Nice skydiving / HALO sequences though - would love the know how someone at 1500Ft travelling at at least 200 miles per hour managed not to hit the deck for over 30 secs!
Minority Report - enjoyed this one!
Sum Of All Fears - too many plot holes, character changes, unrealism and lack of action, especially with a nuclear blast and effects lasting about 10 seconds out of 2 hours.
Most movies seem to be aimed at 5 year olds now, with no original ideas coming through. Every film can be predicted from the onset (maybe one or two exceptions though).
What's happened to 18 certificate films where someone might actually die when getting attacked by giant spiders or napalmed for example?
I'm sure plenty of people will disagree with me and say most movies have always been like that, but Hollywood seems to be churning out one after another now.........is it not possible that humans could actually lose once in a while, or a lone man wouldn't be able to finish off something that nukes and the entire Earth military etc couldn't touch????

regarding some of the comments:
MIB2 was supposed to be exactly the same as MIB, ok it wasn't as original but it didn't need to be.
Sum Of All Fears, not sure what you were expecting, but it was a pretty good representation of the book, considering the limitations of movies. Ok it should have been set in the early 80's but that didn't affect the film, only the films as a group.
Oh and yea Minority Report was pretty cool, didn't see Cameron Diaz in it though??
just my 2c

its because they are hollywood films, with the current problems in america any new films are going to be hugely pro America (mankind often portrayed by Americans), also cinema is there to entertain and it could be argued going to a cinema to see mankind wiped out isn't hugely entertaining. That said i haven't read your spoilers so i don't know what films you watched so i could be entirely wrong!

You should blame yourself for choosing crap movies to watch when there are plenty of good ones that need your support but like everyone else you just ignore them!
Some of this years better movies. (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/top/bestofrt_year.php?year=2002)

I was forced to sit through The Order starring Jean Claude Van Damme - now that, my friends, is a bad movie!

I enjoyed Minority Report too....but it's got ten times as many plot holes as 'the sum of' and the big twist is completely ripped off another film.

The majority of Hollywood's modern day output is just generic, formulaic, politically correct, saccharin enriched, flag waving crap. Every time I leave the cinema these days im left feeling disappointed. But there's no use in getting worked up about these things, there are hundreds and hundreds of great movies out there from past decades and other countries that im happily exploring. A bit of moral ambiguity never did a film any harm - we need the bad guys win sometimes!!

She was sitting in the train facing away from the camera where the guy was reading the newspapers.

Hollywood wants to get as many people in the cinema and if that means lowering the certificate then they do it. The trouble is it reduces what the director can do with the film.
I liked resident evil but it would have been better as a 18 and not a 15.
