Question:
This is £28 at futureent, is it worth it over any other versions?
That seems pricey. I take it this is the 2-disc Anchor Bay edition from a couple of years back?
In all honesty, the second disc featuring the Red Dragon cut of the film is pretty poor.
The transfer is, I think, from video tape and is pretty abysmal. You have to have a lot of patience or curiosity to sit through it for the couple of different scenes that are there. All of the good extras are on the single disc edition anyway.

I have it and the 'theatrical' looks very good (though the dir's cut is almost unwatchable)
also look at the Rewind comparison (http://www.dvdcompare.org.uk/comparisons/film_results_page.php?fid=1346)
Does anyone know if the Momentum UK R2 version is missing any scenes like the R1 AB version?
edit thisreview (http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/index.cgi?page=Review&id=207&story=1993) of the R2 says that it is basically the same as the R1 except that it DOES include the rather important (imho) exchange between Graham and Crawford.
If I remember correctly the image quality on the directors version is worse than a VHS copy.
The theatrical cut is pretty fantastic though. Although I am not sure I would want to pay £28 for it!
also checkout manhunter.net (http://www.manhunter.net/setup.htm) for dvd info.
Agree with all comments regarding the Director's version - it is incredibly poor quality, even worse than LP video recordings.
£28 is a bit steep. If you're desperate for the LTD version, try trawling the auction sites, you might be lucky and get a bit cheaper. Otherwise, stick to the single disc version.
Agree with the above. It is now OOP so your best bet is here or ebay - seen them as low as £18.
If you just want to watch a good film then the single version is fine.
i got it delivered from dvdboxoffice last week. cost = £18.84 delivered.
not watched it yet though
Cheers guys, much appreciated.
As stated above it's not really worth it unless you are a fanatical completist... the Director's edition is thre only divfference between the two and it is poor quality and isn't much different to the the theatrical...
Go for the single release.
I agree.
I have seen the longer cut of the movie on this disc, and the picture quality really is very poor. The bulk of the extra few minutes is taken up by an unneccesary final scene in which...
Will Graham pays a visit to the next intended victim of the tooth fairy
The original cut of the movie is available on R2 momentum release for a £10, with a crystal clear picture transfer and 5.1 sound. I'd say get this version.
Agree with comments above, you will only watch the directors cut once.
Think it was anamorphic but looked dire on my 32" w/s TV
What nobody is saying is that part of an important scene is missing from the R1 (can't remeber if it's on the R2), the scene where Graham is watching a tape.
I'd write the exact scene, but I don't know how to make a spoiler. :(
There was a very good disussion about what was cut / missing between the 2 versions, on DVDFile, I think in their cut lists section.
