film(s) with the song 'Baker Street' in them
Question:

heard the song Baker Street on the radio today and i had a memory of a film (or possible television episode?) ending with this song playing.
it made feel happy either way. but what film (or films) have used this song?

Answers:

Never heard of the song but a quick uk.imdb.com (http://uk.imdb.com/) search on Baker Street gives me...
"Baker Street"
Written and Performed by Gerry Rafferty
Is that the song?!
If so, Good Will Hunting per chance?

Answers:

no idea who wrote it :( you'd probably recognise it though if you heard it. if memory serves, the foo fighters did a cover of it for the single of 'my hero'
haven't seen good will hunting either :brickwall
edit:
just did a quick check and it is the rafferty version which i know and love. i'm also more inclined to think it was on a tv show rather than a movie. might move this to the tv forum

Answers:

Its played at the end of one of the Simpsons Eps.

Answers:

It is indeed Gerry Rafferty performing Baker Strret taken from the Nighty Owl album and has to have one of the best ever saxophone intro's.
The song was indeed featured on Good Will Hunting.

simpsons eh? that could well be it. any idea which ep?

From snpp.com
What is the name of the song played during the saxophone montage at the end of Lisa's Sax (http://www.snpp.com/episodes/3G02.html)
The song is "Baker Street", a top-ten hit for Gerry Rafferty in 1978. A cover version by the Foo Fighters was released in 2000.

Surely not? ;)
You've probably heard it. It's very famous, especially as mentioned, the sax intro. Feature of a million tacky 80s "driving" music CDs for the car (the track itself isn't so bad, but those CDs and the adverts for them on TV drive me  ).
I'd swear it's been in an advert or two (dozen :D), though there's no sign of it at www.commercialbreaksandbeats.co.uk (well, except in those 'driving' CD adverts, it's definitely been in those).
But, yes, it was in the Simpsons.

Bits of it were used in that "never let her slip away" track a few years ago Garry. Can't remember the group that had it - never heard from them again probably.

Answers:

me thinks it was the lisa's sax episode i was thinking of :)
thanks all. was kinda hoping it'd been thinking of something more adventurous but nevermind :)

and it was, of course, the great Bob Holness that played the sax on that track ;)

There's a 10 minute audio clip of Gerry Rafferty talking about his music on the new Reservoir Dogs DVD (disc 2). Obviously he talks about Caught In The Middle With You quite a bit but he also mentions that Baker Street has been in quite a few movies but the only one he names is Good Will Hunting. You can find that interview in the K-Billy Radio section.

Answers:

:D I've heard that Bob Holness rumour, where was it first mentioned? I find it more amusing than I really ought to.

Answers:

and the simpsons episode in question is on in 20 mins on BBC2 :rocker: hurray
