great movies for very hot days!
Question:

Right, it's hot!
not just hot, it's damn hot!
So, what are good movies to watch when the weather is scorching and you don't want to be in the heat!
I'd go for "Fargo" and "The Thing" myself. Two movies I love to watch in the height of summer but never can in the winter - brrr!
what about you lot?

Answers:

Good question although i have trouble doing anything when it's hot let alone sitting still for 90+ mins.
How about 'Alive'?? :P

Answers:

"Alive"? That would put you right off your barbecue. Ice Age would be a good one but not out for a while yet.

Ice Cold in Alex?
Gandhi?
Cast Away?
Falling Down?
Bridge on the River Kwai?

Probably Waterworld would seem like a good choice after those! :norty:

I think Lawrence of Arabia is so much better in the Winter with the xmas tree and lights dimmed down.
but films with a real feel of the summer.
teen crap movies like American Pie
Assault on Precint 13
187
Die Hard : WAV
those 3 films have a 'haziness' about them and give me the feeling of a hot summers day.
or watch Heartbreak High on BBC2 everyday :)

i always find b+w comforting and cooling on a baking hot day, watched magnificent ambersons this arfo.
talk of snow has just made me put in Lovers of the Artic Circle.... again:)

Stephen Poliakoff's frustrating but interesting Close My Eyes has an unforgettable late summer atmosphere, along with probably the best performance Alan Rickman has ever given.
I like watching movies in season. Hannah And Her Sisters is an Autumn film and Groundhog Day is ideal for livening up the pre-spring slump.

The Thing is always a good one for sending shivers down the spine - I swear it got colder in the cinema when I first saw this!
If you want to watch something that reflects the current climate, try Body Heat. Bit of a scorcher in more ways than one. :norty:

Point Break is great to watch in the summer heat!

I'd recommend "Big Wednesday" (cool, cool water)
and would love to see "OC & Stiggs" released (Robert Altman's teen movie - Dennis Hopper, King Sunny Ade, the coolest car ever, and the inspiration for 2000AD's "DR & Quinch").
Great summer movie.
Steve
