Question:
This (http://www.r2-dvd.org/article.jsp?sectionId=3&articleId=4546) article at the R2 Project, confirms that Monster's Inc. R2 will have a DTS track.
I can't seem to find anything that suggests the R1 has DTS, can anyone confirm whether or not it does?
I would say the R1 would most likely have the DTS soundtrack as well , I'm only basing it on the fact that the last couple of Disney releases have came with a DTS soundtrack :)
disney are making a habit of DTS but this is the first i've heard of monsters inc. it would be the first pixar film to have it.
I also imagine this release to have DTS in R1 as a few releases lately, ie. Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, have had no mention of DTS on the press releases but have turned up with them on. Also on a side note, the R2 Project have confirmed the R2 release of A Bugs Life will have a DTS track. I shal be picking this up also, but was the DTS on the R1 deluxe set?
DTS was not on the R1, i have it and it's a fine 5.1 mix, especially for an animated feature.
damn i thought i had the best version of a bug's life. it's nice to see R2 getting the good stuff but not when i already have the R1:nuts:
The R2 has been confirmed to have a DTS track included - still don't know for definite about the R1 though...

The current issue of Ultimate DVD carries a review of R1/R2 versions of Monsters Inc. They say that only the R2 version has a DTS track. Don't know how reliable this info. is though.
I think I can see me cancelling my R1 and ordering the R2 for dts soundtrack ... damn that makes me sound like a :dork:

While by no means official, I got a 'imported' copy of Monsters Inc a few months ago.
On the cover (which was clearly an R1 cover), it claimed Anamorphic Widescreen and DTS.
As an 'imported' disc it actually had neither and did have an annoying message scrolling past every 15 mins.
It's possible the R1 isn't DTS, because both widescreen and 4:3 are on disc 1, and if Pixar are doing what they have done in the part, the 4:3 won't be pan and scan'ed it will have the 'missing' parts filled in by computer.
Perhaps time to order the R2 version :-)
That was "imported" from the Oscar Committee, hence the scrolling message, and isn't a reliable indicator of anything, I'm afraid.
imported, ripped, burned and then had a dodgy cover made on photoshop that claimed it was the best spec possible to convine ignorant car booters it was the rare chinese import
