Question:
Another LOTR thread - apologies in advance:
I expect I'm wrong but I thought I saw Peter Jackson himself in LOTR when I was watching the DVD. When the hobbits enter Bree there's a beardy bloke on the right hand side of the street you see very briefly who is eating a carrot - and he looks like Peter Jackson to me. What ya reckon? (I can take it!)
That is indeed the man himself. Watch carefully, people, you are looking at the next George Lucas. (I suppose that statement could be taken in different ways depending on your opinion of Episodes 1+2...)

Oh god - don't start that Ep 1 thing up!
Glad you don't think I'm mad though.
Sorry about the Ep1 thingy. "The story in the new trilogy is told visually, in a more old fashion style."
Why, was Lawrence Kasdan not available? I'm sure that B5 creator/writer J michael Straczynski would also do a dynamite job. Imagine the following line from Palpatine to Anakin as Senator Binks leaves the room:
"The only thing that improves his company is the lack of it."
10 points to any B5 fans who remember the episode in question it came from...
What the **** has that got to do with Peter Jackson?????
Comparison may be drawn between Jackson and Lucas on visual style and scale only - Jackson is a far better director, particularly in pacing his films and teasing proper performances out of his actors.
FFS, Lucas even managed to make Alec Guiness seem wooden at times!
Is it me, or has gone off track? I just thought it was funny that Jackson can be seen eating a carrot in the movie...

He's quite a funny looking guy - a bit of a hobbit in him for sure.
Maybe he was eating carrots to keep his night-sight keen. According to disc 2 of Fellowship they did 4 MONTHS night filming for a scene in The Two Towers.
Isnt that him that Michael J Fox bumps into outside a shop in THE FRIGHTENERS?
The question is now, will he put himself in all the movies, or will he consider an appearance in FOTR sufficient? Keep your eyes peeled for that orc on the edge of the shot who's looking particularly unkempt.
Yep, that's him in Frighteners.
And the tramp that the girls run into in Heavenly Creatures after they come out of the cinema.
Obviously he's in Bad Taste as well, but does he appear in Brain Dead? Can't remember ever noticing him in that.

I seem to remember him being the nutcase embalmer guy. Although it has been a few years since I've seen the film.

He plays the undertakers assistant - The one who cocks up the embalming of Lionel's mother.
Edit - Beaten to it by Foxy :)
Yep I too noticed him in Lord Of The Rings!
I didn't know that was him in Heavenly creatures though! It was probably his way of making sure he had some physical contact with Kate Winslet:norty: ;)
I think I read somewhere that he wants to play a part in each one of his films.
I'm guessing he wasn't in Meet the Feebles though :p
I would like to see him play Derek again in Bad Taste 2 but I'm guessing that is very unlikely... unless it is called
Bad Taste 2 - Derek ate all the Pies
Seriously tho, what does everyone think Jackson will tackle after LOTR?... I reckon King Kong stands a good chance.
It wouldn't surprise me if the Studios gave him carte blanche to make whatever he wanted if the next 2 LOTR films are as succesful as Fellowship.
Theres a small nugget about him wanting to remake the 70's remake of King Kong in the latest Empire.

I reckon he will want to make a movie close to his heart, like a horror flik or somesuch, but the studios will try and insist he does summer blockbusters from hereon. Interesting to see which way it goes. he didn't do LOTR because it was a big project afterall, but because he loved the source material.

Jackson's script for King Kong was set circa 1930's like the original.
It is a necessity for him to emulate Lucas and do a prequel.
He has to do that while Ian Holm is still at a decent age to play Bilbo.
Then the circle will be complete.
It ISN'T him that's eating the carrot actually, he's the guy that burps at the camera while they're in Bree, i noticed this when i first saw the film. It's definately not him with the carrot.
I didn't remember him eating a carrott either.
I thought he was one of the Humans in Bree, the one outside in the rain that belches at the camera.
GrossePointBlank - the bloke who burps at the camera in Bree, who you agree is Peter Jackson, has a half eaten carrot in his right hand. I think its fair to assume he's eating it, don't you. The burper and carrot eater are one and the same.
