Panic Room
Question:

A single disk release, no commentery no making of, no deleted scenes, no **** all except dts.
wtf.
Tsk. No asterisking parts of swear words please. Gromit

Do you think there will be a big difference in picture quality between the Superbit R1 and the standard R2, taking into account that the R2 image generally looks cleaner?

Answers:

Hold your horses. Do you not think that within the coming months they will release a spanking edition. Remember Fight Club? Not so good now, but the best when it was released. Slow down a little bit. Patience is a virtue. The best is yet to come.

Answers:

The 2 disc IS coming later on.
Crap film anyway. If anyone other than Fincher had directed it the fan boys would have hated it aswell.

Answers:

A fine stand. Credits were great though.

Loved it at the cinema, and I'm not a Fincher fanboy, I haven't seen any else of his work. I'll be picking up the Superbit, as I don't own any Superbit titles, and would like to see if the supposed picture quality increase is actually noticeable. I'll get the special edition when it's released as well.

Answers:

Superbit's are a cash in. Minimal picture and sound enhancement. OK DTS, but other then that you stlii have to buy the sp ed. for commentaries and bits. Fans of the film are being nothing but cash machines for suited up execs. Go on pay for another one of there stress balls.

True.
They were also good when Hitchcock used them in North by northwest. :)

If I can pick this up cheap £9 from dvdsoon I think , I'll go for it .. not to fussed about extras these days
I kinda enjoyed it when I saw it in the cinema , does that mean I'm a fan boy

Watched this the other night, really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the DVD, but I'll hold out a month or two and see what's going on with the SE before buying any earlier release.

Answers:

I wonder if The Game will get the SE treatment...?

Answers:

Not seen the movie, started to watch a DL but the picture was too dark (I knew I'd buy the dvd anyway).I'm waiting for the special edition as the 7 and Fight Club SE's are both excellent.

My mate's a Fincher fanboy and he didn't like it.
I did though :) Excellent popcorn movie IMHO

Answers:

Have to admit, I did enjoy it but that may have been because I was determined to, as it was Fincher. I keep trying with Alien3 for the same reason and I think I'm starting to like it !!!

IMO a great little film. Clearly a director having fun in creating a well paced piece of nerve-jangling entertainment. And a fantastic performance by Ms Foster to boot.

Just a quick question about the Superbit discs everybodies on about, what are you guys watching these on?
There is a big difference if your watching them on an expensive system, the picture quality on a projector is excellent, way better then the original releases and the dts soundtrack does make a difference, extras are nice, but lets not forget that they are only extras! Isn`t picture and sound quality usually more important?

Answers:

true picture and sound quality are more important but on a 32 inch set you'd be hard pushed to notice any difference.
I like the idea of superbit deluxe, even if they are still a branding cash in but i hate that they don't carry commentary tracks, i mean how much space can they actually take up?

Answers:

I just rented this last night as was pleasantly surprised - much better than I expected it would be :)

Answers:

I'm a big fan of Finchers, but thought it was just alright, I'll pick up a Special Ed release if its released later, but the bare bones one will not be on my shopping list any time soon...

What that? A DVD with no extras to allow optimum bitrate for the film, with some extras added?

Answers:

never seen such a load of rot in all my life.
how this can be from the same director of se7en is beyond me.
:oh-hum:

Answers:

The film that it's a remake of is much better. The original was Wait Until Dark and started Audrey Hepburn, no panic room, just them all in the same house and a thousand times more tense.
Regards Panic Room - a competant thriller, I thought, but definitely not Fincher's best. Just a director kicking back and making something simple and fun.

Answers:

I thought Panic Room worked really well as a suspense-thriller, and showed Fincher's talent in creating character driven tension. I didn't like the ending, but overall it was an excellent film, and yes, I'm a Fincher fan boy!
