Except that the CG was rendered in conventional 4:3, so that when we see it a sizable portion of the action will be missing from the screen.
I would rather watch the show in it's original tv format of 4:3 rather than the present 'combo' of 1:85 live-plate photography and 4:3 CGI...
Time to continue dumping the episodes onto personal VCD...

Claudia Christiansen. Mmmmmmmmm :norty:

Answers:

Not entirely right - yes the CG was done in 4:3 BUT the guys who did the rendering made sure all the Action took place Centre screen as they knew that it was going to be Widescreen at some point..
Anyway this is a dead cet already got it Pre-ordered at *********..

A space on my shelf already awaits its arrival, the lovely extras are welcome as well, pity they didn't stick any decent extras on the two movie DVD's (which is why I am sticking with my VHS copies of those until I find tem in a bargain bin)
Lovely.....

Season 1 isnt that wonderful apart from a few episodes, mostly near the end (time squared and the two parter one).
not that big a deal surely?
the vids were all going for 50p the last time I saw them so very very cheap.
Seasons 2-4 are tops though.

Answers:

Excellent news but considering the issues with the picture quality on The Gathering/In The Beginning I'm not quite ready to part with all my pre-recorded videos just yet. It is encouraging news though... :)
BTW the first season starts again on Bravo today 3 p.m. and there's a repeat of Sleeping In Light at 5 a.m.

*****Possible Spoiler********
For me season one is special, Michael O'Hare as Jeffry Sinclair is great to follow, as his future and past, as you continue to watch(not revealing spoilers) his character made a big impression on me, ashame he wasn't in it more, but then B5 is about using time to its fullest, and his character has a brilliant return later in season three.
And then seasons 2-4 are awsome, Sheridan is excellent.
All in all, B5 is a book for tv, so all the pages/episodes are important, and when you look back, it's just a great trip, but the first time viewing it will always be in your head as the best.

Answers:

I agree that season 1 was not as action-packed as some of the later seasons, but I enjoyed it greatly nevertheless. It set the scene well, introduced us to all the characters and gave us lost of small nibbles to the impending chaos - "Babylon Squared" for example.

Any one heard wich will be the best region to get?

Answers:

Well indications are that content wise they will be identical. RRP is $100, same as on Star Trek R1, so if thats any indication it means ~£60 as about the best you can get.
However, if you pre-ordered a month back you could get the R2 for just shy of £40:clap:. Now though R2 pre-orders are looking more like just shy of £50.

Have you ever WATCHED it on TV? They may say the guys who did the CG rendering kept the top and bottom of the 4:3 frame relatively empty. But just watch the show. You'll see that the top and bottom of the frame still has a lot of stuff in 4:3. Imagine black bars there, and you get very inferior CG shots.

Answers:

Ok really they should include both versions a 4:3 and a Widescreen..
But anyway i'll be buying it no matter what..

Answers:

That flash preview shows how Warner are finally taking B5 seriously as a marketable product. Hopefully they'll keep the artwork and pacakaging consistent across the boxsets as each season comes out.

Answers:

So which is it to get then. Region 1 or Region 2?
The region 1 is anamorphic so picture quality wise, it should be good. Also, no BBFC nonsense with stabbings etc.

Answers:

Actually there's nothing in it price wise. MT are doing it for £49.99 and did someone mention they had seen it on an R2 site for £49.99 as well.
Sit and wait to see what cd-wow do it for.......
