"Suspiria" - - New British release!
Question:

Curiously, the website of Anchor Bay's UK arm is listing "Suspiria" (http://www.anchorbay.co.uk/perl/search.pl?CO=ABDTBC04) as a future release. I would be only too happy to get my hands on a PAL version of the label's sensational, eye- (and ear!) popping US set, but do the British release rights not remain with Nouveaux (whose DVD is not to be touched with the proverbial barge pole)?
Things get even odder with the promised extras:]Deluxe Two Disc Set includes Michele Soavi's Dario Argento's World of Horror (71 minutes), and Dario Argento: An Eye for Horror, Theatrical Trailers, TV Spot, Music Video, Poster and Stills Gallery, Talent Biographies and more to be announced!
"An Eye for Horror" was released on DVD in Britain by MIA as recently as last February as a second disc in their "Nonhosonno" set. Could something like this be licensed for simultaneous release by two different labels?
And why no mention (mention of "more to be announced" notwithstanding) their own rather good documentary, as included on the US set?
Maybe AB UK are talking a long way off here...?
Maybe AB UK are following the example of the parent company, and prematurely listing future releases to which they have no rights...?
"Release Date: TBC."
If this is going to happen, perhaps they could due "Tenebrae" justice while they're at it. :)

Out in October, according to the excellent Dark Dreams website. :)
Not much info that you haven't already mentioned, but confirms that ABE have picked up the rights from Nouveaux and that we can expect different extras to the R1 set. No 25th Anniversary documentary though by the sounds of it, so the R1 LE will remain a definite keeper.

The current Anchor Bay DTS release of Suspiria is probably the best disc in my collection in terms of how great a restoration job they've done on it. I see no reason why anyone who owns this version would want to go for the R2 instead. Great film too.

Is it uncut, the knife in the heart scene( at the beginning) is very gory:eek:
During the video nasty age it was taken off the shelves and cut. luckily i bought a copy before then.;)

Yes it is (or at least should be) - I guess someone at the BBFC was feeling extra charitable when they passed it uncut back in 98, which was well before the recent 'liberalisation' of their attitude towards this sort of material.
