Question:
I certainly think so, my order would be:
1) Wrath of Khan
2) Voyage Home
3) Undiscovered Country
4) Search For Spock
5) Motion Picture
6) Insurrection
7) First Contact
8) Generations
9) Final Frontier
Oh, and here's a shameless plug for my DVD review of The Wrath Of Khan Extended Version (http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/index.cgi?page=Review&id=995&story=3486) which has just been uploaded to DVD Times! ;)
Star Trek VI is the best, then II & IV with III in the distance. The rest are pants.
Good review man.
I think WoK is the best, but Undiscovered Country & First Contact do also have a certain something about them for me. I would say that I find them the better story-wise
Voyage Home for me - script is very witty and the performances are all excellent.
I used to think so, but I find it a little empty (too harsh?) these days with plot holes you could drive a truck through. I'm probably going against the flow, but since the release of the the excellent DVD I find, in retrospect, TMP a much more satisfying movie.
I do agree that Khan is much more of a Trek picture, but TMP is an excellent large scale sci-fi epic (feel free to bang on about how stilted, slow and plodding it is - I like slow!). You don't have to be a Trekkie to enjoy TMP, you have to understand more about the dynamics of Trek for Khan. No bad thing, BTW, because it was the latter, not the former, that set the agenda for Trek and it's off-shoots for the next two decades.
You can also see the difference in budgets. In TMP it was all on the screen, with Khan, it was essentially the franchise's last chance; it wasn't shoe-string, but it was close, they even re-used sequences shot for TMP. Congratulations to Meyer for doing such a fine job in the cirumstances. There is much to admire in Khan; I agree that the characters and their relationships are much better used than in TMP, and the disk is splendid, though again Raphph, I agree that Meyer could have done with a little help on commentary.
I hate The Voyage Home, but The Undiscovered Country is another good romp with a fine cast, and First Contact is easily my favourite of TNG series.

So many films, so little time...

ummm yes it is the best with 6 following it then... oh what the hell here is my list
ST2 Khan
ST6 Undiscovered Country
ST8 First Contact
ST3 Search for Spock
ST7 Generations
ST1 The Motion Picture
ST5 Final Frontier
ST9 Insurrection
ST4 Voyage Home
I absolutely loathe ST4 as it seemed more like a Star Trek comedy than a real trek film...
I also like ST5 more than most people (and probably more than is good for me)...
In fact that list is a bit misleading as I would give all of them at least 7/10 except for ST4...
then again I'm a Star Trek nut :)
Yes I'd say that Wrath of Khan is the best. Khan is such a great villain for Kirk to be up against.
My order would be:
2
4
8
6
7
3
9
1
5
I seem to have followed the odd/even rule, so lets hope that X (Nemesis) ends up near the top of the list.
My list would be:
1. First Contact
2. The Undiscovered Country
3. Wrath of Khan
4. The Voyage Home
5. Generations
6. Search for Spock
7. Insurrection
8. The Final Frontier
9. The Motion Picture
Khan is my favourite, but The Motion Picture is the only Trek picture which has the larger than life and cinematic quality :)
For me, Wrath of Khan just edges out First Contact as the best Trek movie to date.
The league runs:
1 - Wrath of Khan
2 - First Contact
3 - Undiscovered Country
4 - Insurrection
5 - Voyage Home
6 - Generations
7 - Search for Spock
8 - The Motion Picture
9 - Final Frontier (one of the 10 worst films I've ever seen)
WoK would be top of my list too. In order, my preferences are:
Wrath of Khan
First Contact
The Undiscovered Country
The Voyage Home
The Final Frontier*
Search for Spock
The Motion Picture**
Insurrection
Generations
(*I have a soft spot for Star Trek V. I wish that the studio hadn't panicked, and let Shatner direct the version he originally wanted to.)
(**I prefer the original theatrical version to the new Director's Cut. Apart from the saucer walk at the end, the effects weren't bad at all IMHO. And the new cut removes many of the interesting little character interplays.)
No, its not.

First Contact is my personal favourite, but Wrath of Khan is my second.

Quote: Out Of Curiousity - Is The Wrath Of Khan the best Star Trek movie?
Yes.
Definitely, it's Star Trek's finest hour. Pauline Kael's review says it best if you ever get a chance to read it.
Wrath Of Khan is the Best Original Series film with The Undiscovered Country coming second. But so Far First Contact is the best Next Generation Film.
