Question:
Has anyone seen this/is this any good? (.. if so is there a decent DVD out anywhere?)
up.. i'm sure someone here must've seen it?!
Hello,
Ive seen it, bought the Dvd as I am a big fan of the story in manga form.
I use to own the dvd, R1, thinking the disc is adequate.
The animation is not too great but the disc is only worth buying for the strength of the story.
I believe that its only part 1 of the full story that has been adapted, as the original books were a trilogy, I think.
Very tragic and worth watching in my opinion but dont expect an audio visual thrill.
Regards
Daredevil :)
Actually, there are about five volumes of the Manga. The film is supposedly a let down, and I would recommend you look towards the forthcoming R1 version of Graveyard For Fireflies....

thanks for the info - i was mainly interested in it for the story anyway as i visited Hiroshima about 6 weeks ago and just recently saw a couple of good documentaries which were shown on the anniversary of the bombings last week which have sparked my interest.. i shall pick it up if i can get hold of it cheaply

I already have the Japanese R2 of Grave of the Fireflies and thought it was excellent - probably end up buying the R1 SE as well even tho the JpR2 is quite adequate
