Question:
Whats the main difference between the 3 versions of Lord of the rings that are to be released on dvd. is it worth waiting for the november releases....... is the only major advantage - the extra discs discs with extra features?????:norty:
Have you been in prison or in isolation or summat?
 ,no i have a life
In summary
The August release is the theatrical version of the film. No DTS or commentary tracks but quite a few extras - although most have been available on the net.
November sees the release of an extended (by about 30 minutes) version with commentary and DTS track spread over 2 disks. A further disk(s) will have more extras not seen on the August release.
A third release is out at the same time which has a posh case and bookends
quigs, you sound like a prick. A word of advice: if you're going to ask questions (to which you could have found the answer yourself easily enough - heard of the SEARCH FUNCTION?), try not to follow it up with petty abuse. People will get tired of you quickly and simply won't answer.
Has anyone listed to any Peter Jacksons commentaries or interviews? I was just wondering what to expect.
Okay you lot, let's calm down a bit. The initial comments between quigs and Narshty were really not necessary as the post was asking a simple question. SithLordSi you sound like you're having a bad day as your response is clearly getting a bit too abusive. People who are fairly new to the forum (43 posts and joined in July) are not so familiar with the search function so whilst your point is valid the way it's been put is not.
The commentary (& the rest of the supplements) on the Frighteners laserdisc was excellent.
Ah cool. I think ill wait for the final release, sounds great!. With regard to search functions,,, i do search quite a lot but decided that id ask in case any1 knew any extra info .I also thought that it might be useful for all the newbies like myself!. And NARSHTY , i wasnt being nasty by posting that response , i was just jokin':norty:
I was just joshin' too. ;) It was just too easy and obvious question to answer.
Sorry for sounding a little harsh - I've got my first driving lesson this afternoon, and I'm bricking it! No hard feelings?
SithLordSi, when you have your 'L' plates up I hope the other road users treat you with courtesy..sometimes you'll find that when you're new on the road you can get a bit of abuse.
Awwwwh - the love is back in the forums
Let's all have a group pad

Can somebody confirm something for me regarding the November release and the National geographic disc inclusion....is the NG disc only included in Region 1? I have the Region 2 Collector's edition (plus the August release) on pre-order, but I wouldn't mind the NG as well. Will I have to buy this as separate on R2?
From what I have heard the R2 Collectors boxset is only the 4 discs. If you want the NG disc on R2 then you'll have to buy it seperately. Am I right?

First lesson went great! I was a little worried at first, but at the end the instructor told me I was "well above average". :D :D
... Never mind, wrong thread.

I saw the NG R2 disc in HMV at £14.99. I can see that selling for less than a fiver in a few months time. :)
mmmm.... i do want both version of the movie, i'll wait til all the versions are released to see which i'll get. Most likely i will go for the collectors boxset with e bookends. And get the regular (August) version in the HMV sales after next Christmas.
Smart eh? :p
