West Wing R2 Cut?
Question:

I just got the second box set today and while watching the making of documentary there is extra footage in the pilot episode, cafe scene with Josh and Mandy when the two students ask Josh for his autograph and he introduces mandy to them. She says extra lines not in the first R2 box set, something like "he loved me and then told me to hit the road and don't you come back no more no more"
Now I checked on the BBFC website and they say there was no cuts made to the pilot episode so has anyone seen the us version of the pilot and can they confirm if those lines were in it?
The only reason I could see it being cut for R2 is that because it is lyrics lifted from a song and they wished to avoid royalty payments or some such thing. If not then I'm getting pretty ****** off with censorship in this pathetic excuse for a country and will stop buying R2 altogether.
It's not like it hasn't happened before anyway. Blackadder 3 had a line removed from the UK version in the scarlet pimpernel episode where he said "they seek him ...(can't remember the rest)..whats that awful garlic smell?" I remember watching it on the tv episode but it was removed from the video version. £$£$£$£$£$£$£$££$£"%$"£$%"%%"$%"%!1111

update
I had a search around on some transcripts and one of them has the same lines as the R2 version, one with the line above added in and another one with a completely different line altogether along the lines of "he was the love of my life but I told him to get his skanky ass self out of my bed and go find some other young womens heart to break"
WTF is going on, why 3 different versions and have they done this with more than 1 episode????????

I'm pretty sure another episode is cut as well. The one where they're going to announce their candidate for the Supreme Court, when their ultimately rejected character is waiting outside the oval office with Charlie they have a short conversation about how the judge thinks he recognises Charlie from somewhere. Charlie says he caddied at a golf course for a summer. I'm almost certain in the TV broadcast that the conversation was longer, something to do with the judge treating him badly because he was black but it's certainly not in the DVD. :(

I don't think that was ever in the episode, cut for pacing or something, - it certainly hasn't been in the version shown on Ch4.

As above, though I'm not 100% sure the Ch4 broadcast didn't have it but I doubt it was meant to be in the episode.

Madm@tt maybe it was cut for pacing but it's strange why they would show 3 different scenes for the pilot in the US. The transcripts can't be wrong because they have the other lines down perfectly.
Be interested to see what version the R1 boxsets will get when they come out.

I saw the whole series and don't remember this scene, but I'm left wondering why anyone would want Josh's autograph??
Isn't it a bit like getting Jo Moores before she revealed herself as being completely devoid of human emotion?

guys first time i saw west wing was an advert in Warner Bros Store in Breahead when it opened, and there were at least 2 scenes that were cut down/dropped from the pilot when it actually launched on TV both here and in the US.

My mistake. Having watched the second half of season one again, the scene is actually in a later episode involving the diplomat for Bulgaria.

From what I recall, I think the autograph seekers are influenced by hormones more than any particular admiration for his political know-how.
