Question:
Has anyone seen this tosh yet?
Empire gave it 4 stars (http://www.empireonline.co.uk/reviews/review.asp?id=8136) !!
I'm beginning to loose faith in this mag.
Jason X is tedious, predictable, not scary (atmospherically or jumpy-like), and the script is laughable. Avoid.

Yes, but it's a friday the 13th film, I enjoyed it.

sounds like a typical Friday 13th film to me! ;)
Scary it isn't, that's for sure but taken as a straight-faced spoof, it sort of works, although it should have been a lot shorter. Best bit by far - the holographic Crystal Lake scene, which is laugh-out-loud funny. I don't think I'll ever look at another sleeping bag without laughing.
One thing that surprised me was how gory it is. Despite the 15 rating, it's gorier than the rest of the Friday The 13th series put together and makes Resident Evil look like even lamer it is. Why on earth did Paul Anderson keep cutting away from the gore if Jason X got away with this?
As this got an R in America, maybe Paramount should consider resubmitting the uncut versions of the original movies to the MPAA because it's hard to believe they're much stronger.
Now way, this is the least gory one in the series.
Jason Goes to Hell was probably the goriest IMO ... I only re-watched it recently and found it better then when I originally watched it.
The slicing on the girl in the tent was OTT.

Jason goes to hell is deffinatly the most gory at the moment, since thats the only one that is avalible fully uncut at the moment.
Part 4 is my fave, has some of the best death scenes and Jason gets battered hard at the end :D
Jason X was like one of those bad, cheap made for TV Sci-fi movies they used to show on Channel 5.
I thought it was ok for a Teen slasher
Jason X was for the "Matrix" generation, as one of the guys who made it said. That chrome hockey mask from the Jason Goes to Hell railer looks very cool. Pity they never used it.

probably the most naked women too! :norty:
Funny in places though! Stupid......but funny!
I thought "Jason X" was great fun. Impossible to take seriously of course but the "Friday The 13th" films have never been all that hot on verisimilitude. Overall, I think I preferred the hugely enjoyable "Freddy Vs Jason" but Jason in space had a lunatic charm all of its own. Lovely cameo from Mr Cronenberg as well.
Jason X swaps scares for comedy to great effect. I mean it was way better than Resi Evil.

gets a thumbs up from me:thumbs:
My old man watched my dvd copy of it last night he said he enjoyed it and he's never even seen a Friday the 13th Movie before.
It amazes me when people slam this movie. What were you expecting from the tenth Friday movie?
I thought it was hugely enjoyable with some truely hillarious moments.
The virtual Crystal Lake has to be the best bit. Girl #1 Hey wanna beer?
Girl #2 Or you wanna smoke some pot?
Girl #1 Or how about some premarital sex?
Both girls We love premarital sex.
Brilliant
Part 3 was the best by far. The eyeball popping out was hilarious:D
Part 3 really needs a 3-D dvd re-release, with free 3d glasses.
