KEF Mk1's and Denon AVR-1803 combo
Question:

Has anyone else got this set up,
over the last week or so my speakers have been playing up, the center speaker had to be sent for repair as the amplification went in it, now my front right crackles and the sub-woofer sounds like its going to turn inside out.
anyone else had any problems, i think the amp may be too powerful for the speakers, or maybe crappy wire, anyone have any ideas?

Answers:

It rare that an amp will be too powerful for the speakers - it's under-powered amps that damage speakers as high volume will cause clipping and possibly damage to speakers.
Have you been running them at very high volumes for long periods?
Also - not sure what you mean by the amplification going in the centre speaker - the KEF's are passive.

Answers:

The 1803 won't be anywhere near too powerful for the Kef's.
Sounds like something else is up.

Answers:

I meant by the amplification going in the center speaker that it was just very tinny, like there was no amplification, it wasnt the channel as i tested other speakers on it.
got the center back today anyway but all the speakers are pretty crappy so they're going back tomorrow.
could it just of been a bad set? as i dont want to be without a surround kit for too long.
