Question:
Special offer for readers of this forum ONLY.
From now till the end of August we are having a 50% sale on rental of our solderless upgrade tools / remotes / discs. This means that you can upgrade a massive range of DVD players to Multiregion for no more than £17.50 and in the comfort of your own home !
This offer applies to our SOLDERLESS DIY UPGRADES ONLY , that means any upgrade listed on our solderless page linked here
http://www.dvdchips.co.uk/solderless
If you exceed the 21 days return time then the offer is invalid and you will be charged the extra 50% along with the current penalty for failure to return ( £20 for remotes , £100 for discs / tools ).
To qualify for this discount you must enter voucher code 508031974 into the shopping cart and then click on "Recalculate" at the time of placing the order. The total order value will then be discounted by 50%.
Great value Steve!
Pity I ordered 2 over the last couple of months
It's the time of year i'm afraid ... Solderless Upgrades are better going out at 1/2 price than simply sitting here doing nothing
Doesn't seem to take the money off when recalculating. Tried IE and Mozilla browsers, both the same.
I'm thinking of getting a Denon DVD2900 ... how is that unit made multiregion? There appears to be about £80 difference between standard R2 and multiregion units when searching for prices. Your site doesn't list it at all from what I can see.

I dont bother with Denon as they are difficult to get hold of to work on .... they used to be clones of other units but I've no idea nowadays
Oh ... that's a bummer. Ta anyhoo.

Cheers, never throught to look there.
:)
2 People have taken advantage of this offer in 4 days ! I find this very strange as I expected a massive surge with a 50% discount.
Possibly this is because most people who are active on these forums are likely to buy their dvd players pre-modded, or bought ones that are handset-hackable. I could well be wrong but that's my first impression.
I decided not to buy your mod for my Panasonic E50 in the end because my Pioneer 444 is MR and so is my PS2 - I don't think I really need 3 MR players!
I've got a 110v Sony DVP-S500D. Any chance this player can be modded?
It lacks PAL decoder as well, so even a Region 0 PAL disc won't work.
And no dts output either
Thanks

No I wouldnt touch it .... like you say it's NTSC only so not worth the hassle that would be involved with attempting to convert it

Yes I think you are quite right ... this is possibly not the best place to advertise upgrades .... make me wonder about the effectiveness of my banner on here.
ill be ordering before the end of the month
got a sony dvp ns 705 that i need to sort out.
straightforward i take it steve?

I wouldn't say it is pointless. Many people will find forums like this after buying their first player. High street stores don't generally stock multiregion players and the popular high street brands are (I guess) Toshiba, Sony etc, which aren't handset hackable. We all start somewhere ... :)
I went for the one of Steve's solderless multiregions thanks to this thread.
My girlfriend inherited a Panasonic SAPM08, which is a very good piece of kit (albeit a bit out of date by people's standards here), but frustratingly not multiregion and not easily made so. Been looking around for a M/R 'hack' for ages.
Had an excellent service, Steve replied to my queries within the hour and I had the disk as soon as was practical.
Cheers
Phil

No idea sorry .... I dont tend to bother much with Sharp , Denon , Yamaha and other unpopular brands. The main brands I concentrate on are JVC , Panasonic , Pioneer , Sony and Toshiba. Other players tend to either have remote hacks or they are so rare as not to matter

( emails are being returned and your phone just rings and rings )
You order will be sent as two seperate packages , one for the Pioneer and the other for the Panasonic. This is just so that you know that if half the order arrives it's not a mistake and the other half will be with you soon after

hi steve, my mate has the SonyDVPF25 (http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/130_883351.html) and was wondering if you had an upgrade for it??
It's listed as F25 on the website
Direct link to Sony Upgrade Remote page here
http://www.shoyle.f9.co.uk/dvdchipsuk/sonyremote.htm
doh! would explain why a search for DVPF25 didnt show it up:| will have a word with him and no doubt be ordering this soon, cheers Steve.

Hi there, I want to get my dad's Sony DAVS550 changed to multiregion, but we are having problems finding the firmware version!
We are pressing the 'stop' and 'display' buttons and then turning the volume control (as in your instructions), but we are just getting the message 'Mecha lock'! Can you offer any assistance?
Thnx

Not really .... if your player is not responding as it should then we're pretty much stuck. The remote upgrade for that player is one of the most complicated and if things are not looking correct at this stage the best leave my one shot remote well alone. You'd be better finding somewhere local who has an unlimited use remote as they may need a few attempts to figure out whats going on with your player
thanks for the advice!

I'm sure it'll be &ave read this thread have ordered which is about the same as the number who order after visiting my website.
First order from Simon in Lancs £17.50
Second Order from Tony in Worcs £17.50
Third Order from Steven in Aberdeen £35
The Fourth and Final ( So far ) or was from Alex in Cheltenham
again £17.50
So DVD Forums users have Spent £87.50 by linking from this thread saving themselves £87.50.
It's quite possible that some of these people would have ordered from me anyway at the full price so it's not possible to say what effect it's had on business.
Order No.5 from this thread is from Chris in Bedfordshire.
The total amount saved by DVD Forums users is now £105
Last chance .... offer closes at the end of August

I've put two orders your way this morning - which I wouldn't have done if it had not been for this offer/thread. So this thread is working. :)
