why thank you kind sir
I've just bought one of these from ebuyer which will be delivered on Saturday. Will give you some feedback on Monday.
Thanks mate - it looks a good price for what you're getting.
OK received this Saturday and several comments:
1) Component pq from my Sony DVP900 is superb. Absolutely excellent, very very happy with this. Can't rave about this enough!!
2) S-Video from my NTL box using an RGB > S-Vid converter pq is good, clear and colours are good.
3) S-Video from my Nokia FTA Digibox using an RGB > S-Vid converter pq is average (so probably the digibox's fault).
4) Viewing angle - Excellent from above and below, fairly narrow to the side, but not an issue for us as it's going on the wall at the end of the bed.
5) Black levels are not the best (a curse of LCD TVs?)...this is not at all moticeable during the day, but are a bit more noticeable at night when the room is really dark.
6) Smearing / Blurring - None really. Watched the AOTC Pod race scene and some of the Fast and the Furious, and it handled all the very fast panning scenes without any bother whatsoever.
7) Sound - No great shakes but perfectly adequate and not at all tinny which is important. I have noticed a bit of lipsync...not sure if this is a result of the S-Video converter or the screen. Will investigate further.
Overall - This is a top notch purchase if you put a good feed through it. Decent component looks fantastic, and I'm off to buy a set top box with S-Video out. The black levels don't bother me too much and I'm very relieved at the lack of blurring.
One thing to note. the box says response time of 25ms.......but lots of the advertising says 16ms. It certainly doesn't blurr so I guess the 16 is accurate, just seems a bit weird that the packaging says 25ms.
TB - Are ebuyer shipping the teletext version or the old version?
Ta
The older version, but as I use a freeview box for my TV so I'm not really bothered.
BTW the only blurring I've seen is on very fast vertically scrolling credits. Star Wars slow scroll at the start looks fine.
Saw a new Philips 17" LCD at the weekend. Nice picture and fairly beefy sound from the little speakers built in to the unit. £699 in Currys so probably a good deal less online elsewhere.
