Question:

Hi all!
Can someone please recommend a good sub for my Denon AVR1803 for under £200.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Velodyne VX10 can be had for £250 maybe less and is probably your best bet, suggest saving for a little longer

Velodyne PowerBuys are no longer at the AVForums and have moved to AVTalk here (http://www.avtalk.co.uk/forum/index.php?t=thread&frm_id=34&rid=9&S=84b4eded7b45a4f916fb09940038609b).

So what happened with Eric?

At a guess i would say he didn't fancy paying for the powerbuys any longer and/or preffered to do them at avtalk instead.

Eric was banned after being caught out using multiple registrations and using them to rubbish the competition.

New member makes first post and goes straight for this old thread ... interesting....
If your statement above were true, then how would you explain the fact that Eric moved the PowerBuys to AVTalk in July this year?
Might you be suggesting that Spectre knew about it before his recent 'so-called' announcement at AVF? Oh my, that would show him not to be quite the open and fair person he tries to make out he is.
And all of this, of course, assumes that Eric was indeed using multiple registrations. We only have one, non-independent, source suggesting that. A source who clearly doesn't like someone going off and starting up their own forum and has used (and still attempts to use) various tactics to try and prevent it.

So says one, very biased and jealous, person - Mr Stuart Wright of AV Forums.
To get this thread back on topic, AnnatarUK, why not try this Google search in order to find out some more about the Velodyne VX-10, which several people have suggested to you:
Velodyne VX-10 (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=velodyne+vx-10+uk)
Happy to be of assistance, rather than rake over old muck :)

But be warned that the first site on the search engine results belongs to the aforementioned Uncle Eric as does AV Talk.

Be warned of what? if you have read the thread on av forums you will notice there are no people complaining about the products he sells or the customer service they recieved, in fact most if not all have praised him for the products and service.

There is nothing wrong with the product or the service Uncle Eric supplies so why should people "be warned". It is cheaper than anywhere else and is a perfectly good sub for the money.

But it looks bloody hideous... :gag:

It looks better in the flesh than in photo's tbh but i think it's time for me to move upwards and smaller sub wise.

And be warned that 'ivj' is actually the same 'ivj' who is the sole editor of the Google/DMOZ directory:
Regional > Europe > United Kingdom > Business and Economy > Shopping > Consumer Electronics > Home Theatre
(You can see his initials at the bottom of the directory page)
He likes to abuse that position of responsibility and removes any sites that have links to AV Tak because he's actually Ian V Johnston - other wise known as Ian J, AV Forums Supermoderator and compiler of personal files on users of AV Forums.
Petty vendettas and personal paranoias are not what people come to these types of forums to read Mr IVJ, so please refrain from making yourself look repeatedly jealous, bitter and childish.

I'm quite certain that I'm not alone being fed up reading this continual juvenile tit for tat mudslinging which is becoming extremely boring and tiresome :oh-hum:
Could you people not continue your jibes at each other on either AV Forums or AV Talk forums instead of lowering the tone here to your level?

Answers:

Oh for crying out loud, take you petty forums squabbles elsewhere. If it continues here I'll start banning people.

I couldn't agree more Colin. I really am unsure why Ian is posting these mean spirited posts at every opportunity :(
