good dvd/cd playback help please!
Question:

looking to replace my sony 735 with an equally good, multiregion dvd that can play audio well - i know the audiophiles will say get a cd seperate, but i'm looking to save space. it needs to be able to cope with cdr/rw and mp3.
not much to ask for eh? :suspect:

The Harman/Kardon DVD25 (or 2550) is great with CDs. They are going for £299 at Home Cinema Heaven, and also do progressive scan on PAL and NTSC. CD replay is on a par with most sub £200 CD players in my opinion. The new model, DVD30, does DVD Audio - haven't heard it yet, but if the 25 is anything to go by, it should be first class.

Why not get a slimline pioneer dvd and a separate cd player, ur not gonna beat that combo tbh.
A good 150 ish cdp will blow most double the price dvd`s outa the water for cd playback, and there are some real nice slimeline dvd`s around now

Stay away from NAD DVD players, they are awful.
I have a Sony NS900 and it is excellent. As these are discontinued, how about the 905? The analogue output is extraordinary.
I miss having a CD player so I have decided to go back to a proper CD player when I can afford it. It will be a Technics and probably be the SLPG5. I used to have a a old Technics player and they were excellent. I miss it, so I plan to get another one.
