I need a really good quality headphone extension lead!
Question:

My headphone extension lead died on me last week - I think the cable inside snapped  which is a bit of a bind as I watch most things late at night and I can't use regular speakers coz I'll get grief!
I have Sennheiser HD580 headphones and just :luv: 'em!
What I need is an extension lead at least 12ft long (but would pref 15ft+) with small (regular?) jack connectors at the ends.
Is there a lead with these specs made from that highly flexible cable that my actual headphone leads are made from? My previous extension lead was so rigid I'm not surprised it snapped inside! - it was the kind that made cracking noises when you moved it :|
I tried the only TV/Hi-fi store near me but the best they could do was a 1.2m rigid lead :|
So, can anyone recommend anything to me and also tell me where I should buy it?!
cheers
Richie

I'd try Sennheiser - they're excellent for spares.

Sennheiser actually sell a 5m/10m replacement cable for the 580's - if you look the cable is detachable from the can end..
If I can remember where to get it from I'll post back..
[edit] - Right, try Maydale - 01883 625169 (at the bottom of Succombs opposite the Ann Summers building.. :norty: )
Or Sennheiser themselves - http://www.sennheiser.co.uk/contact.htm

cheers guys
It never occurred to me I could change the entire headphone lead! :brickwall
baps, you're a star - I have to go to Maydale tomorrow for my sis anyway so I'll see what they can do for me now I know what I want! (it was them I tried before btw!)

FWIW I had the opposite problem ... I wanted a shorter lead for my HD495s. I rang Sennheiser and they said "no can do".
Where's this Maydale place then? (Excuse me for not having an encyclopaedic knowledge of STD codes or Ann Summers shops - although I'm sure Bapapapa is well acquainted with both Ann Summers and STDs)
;):D

hehe!
Maydale is just a small independant TV/Hifi store in Surrey. Baps recommended it cause he knows where I live! :D

And he knew you'd be able to navigate using sex-shops as landmarks presumably ... :D

Hey Richie - did you manage to get one as I've found the Sennheiser part number for the extension lead (6m has built in vol. control).
Had to get a new cable myself from Maydale as my daughter's rabbit chewed through mine.. :oh-hum: The guy said he had another Senn cable to order, was wondering if it was for you.. :dork:

Hey Baps!
no it's not for me! I haven't got the proper Senn cable yet - I will when I can be bothered to order it & wait for it etc! (plus I do think they are kinda on the expensive side for what they are)
Sennheiser were very helpful though and replied to an email I sent them (so thanks again for that link) - they told me I want the HZR 62 (which is the 6m cable with built-in vol control) I'm guessing this is the same as you've ordered?
In the meantime I found a store called Tru-fi in Redhill (just behind Lloyds Bank in the precinct) and they had a £4 basic extension cable that's tided me over nicely!
It's a really good shop btw and useful to know about - apart from the total :dork: behind the counter who just had to talk VERY LOUDLY to his work mate (in a rather spiffing Surrey accent!) "yeah like, I'm so kewl, yeah, coz I like have TWO subwoofers man, beat that. Like, my peeps are like SO jealous of my like, multi-region home cinema set-up in my crib. You've not like, SEEN "Blade" until you've like, EXPERIENCED it man. Yeah! I'm like so kewl and not ghey at all" :gag:

OK, it did seem too much of a coincidence - I just ordered the standard replacement cable and it was £20.. :|
Tru-Fi - yeah it's fun to go in there as a tyre-kicker check out the new stuff and let them graft on me for a while..
Their prices are outrageous - most of it is full retail.. pffftt..
