Question:
Ok, after lots of research and plenty of decision changing, I think I've narrowed my choice down to 3 tvs.
Toshiba 32zd26
Panasonic 32ps12
Sony KV32FX68
I've found plenty of comments on the Toshiba (mostly good but a few not so good) but I cannot find many for the other two. I'm leaning towards the Toshiba as I have the SD330 dvd player which has component out.
I would be grateful for some comments on all of the above tvs - good and bad - to help me make my decision.
I was hoping to get the Toshiba at John Lewis, but it has been discontinued so I will have to find an alternative source if I decide on this one.
Thanks in advance.
You should have noticed quite a few comments on the panny on the forums this week...
The TX28PS1 was Aug'd what hifi best buy 28" TV so assuming the quality is continued to the 32" model this should be a quality TV - I have the TX28PS12 and now that I've fiddled with the settings am very happy - would have liked the 32" but a lot more money and space needed!
How about increasing your budget a bit and going for an Aventos ?
Or a Mimo - nice set but pricey.
I had an FX68 but it had ghosting on all sources, as did the replacement. I then switched to an FQ70 and it's far better.
Thanks for the replies. I don't think I can stretch to a Loewe tv really. I'm not keen on the stands that come with them anyway.
I'm still leaning towards the Toshiba, but I was hoping for some comments that could help me decide for definite. Maybe I should post a question specifically related to the Toshiba and see if that gets any replies.
Actually, I am now considering the cheaper Toshiba 32z23. It is nearly £300 cheaper and only 50 hz, but I've read that the picture is good.
Please help me decide, my brain is starting to hurt!!
Depends whether you can see a 50Hz flicker. I can and it does my head in, but plenty can't.
The only way to tell is to demo them.

The stand is an extra anyway. The price differece is not so great especially if you shop around wisely and then get JL to price match. It a fair amount of money to spend and the little extra may be a wise move.
I have the 36zd26. This is one of the best purchases I have ever made. I love this TV to bits. I don't rate the 100hz feature on it at all, although I have never seen a another 100hz TV in action to compare it with.
However it has a mode called progressive and the pic quality is brilliant. If you have a dvd player that has a component out then that is another bounus as the quality is great and it still leaves you with a free RGB.
If you are serious about this TV I suggest you read the thread over at the av forums. There are loads of info on the set over there. Some people have had loads of problems but remember two things:
1) No TV is perfect they will have their oddities
2) It all depends on what you can live with
I have never had any of the problems that are discussed on the thread and most av enthusiasts are generally overly criticale.

Well I can't see flicker on my current tv, but then it is only a 21" tv!
I haven't been able to demo the two Toshiba tvs as John Lewis and Comet don't seem to stock them anymore. I did look at two 32" Panasonics - PS1 and PS12. I could see flicker on the PS1 but I could also see pixellation on the PS12 and I am not sure which I preferred.
I'll try and find a shop with the Toshibas in before I purchase.

The picture on these is good, the geometry on mine was terrible and made worse when they came out to repair it. I am in the process of getting a refund.
I've gone for the 32zd26p
Have you considered the Sony KV32FQ70?
I am also in the market for a 32 incher :norty: more replies the better thx.
RGB Direct (http://www.rgbdirect.co.uk/) have the Toshiba 32zd26 on special offer. It's going for £821.29 including free delivery. Cheapest place you'll get that TV for the moment.
I've gone for the Panasonic TX32PS12 with a 5 year gaurantee from JL. My last TV was a Toshiba with a Phillips tube that failed prematurely. I'm sure that's just bad luck though rather than poor quality.
Thanks for all the comments. I think I may end up getting the 32zd26. I've seen several bad comments about this tv, but I've seen more good comments. All the tvs in my price range have known problems so I may as well pick the one I like the look of. I still need to find a shop with it in stock so I can see it 'in the flesh' before I buy.
RGB Direct looks like the best price so far. Are they a good company to deal with?
Radiohead - The FQ70 seems to be getting better comments than the FX68. It is certainly another tv to consider.
dtsrules - if you don't mind me asking, where are you getting your 32zd26p from and how much?
krishav have it for £799, dunno if thats inc delivery
Mines from Sound and vision bolton and is £830 delivered.
I'm also in the market for a 32'' was going to go for a Panny 32pd30 but have herd it doesnt support Prog Scan Pal as it advertised.Still intrested the guy's over on the AVforums seem to be getting over some intial prob's..
Now I am hearing that Lowe is the way to go the Mimo is witin my price range and I read that using a connection avaliable from QED the TV can handle component signal's..
Any advice gratefully recieved ..
I got the 32ZD and love it. Even when it's not switched on, it actually looks nice, not just a TV. It's a bit of a style statement and not to everyones taste, but there you go.
Never had any problems with it, (the geometry was out, but that's rectifiable and what TV doesn't have this problem).
Just wish I had a Prog scan DVD to make the most out of it now. (although PS2 games look lush on Component :) )

I must admit when I first saw the stand I didn't like it, but it has grown on me now. In fact, although there are now a couple of sites offering this tv with an open stand, I will probably get the closed stand.
I don't have a prog scan dvd player either, but I am hoping the one I have will look good anyway (SD330).
I've got a Sony 32FQ75 and it's top
Be warned though, Sony's are heavy! :D
The 32zd26p turned up today, first impressions are very good, need to do some slight tweeking but nothing major.
Toy Story looked absolutely stunning.

Glad to hear that you are pleased with the set. If you come across any problems, please post them (I hope you don't though!)
This is my first choice of tv at the moment. I finally managed to see one in a local shop and I couldn't see any problems with it. Unfortunately, this shop was asking £950 for it which is a bit too high for me. If I decide to get it I will have to go with mail order, which I'm not keen on, but John Lewis are no longer stocking it. :oh-hum:
I got the Tosh 32ZD26P a couple of weeks ago and I can highly recommend it.
Using it with the a progressive scan DVD player gives a simply stunning picture. Interlaced picture from the component inputs is also very, very good.
I've found the best results with setting the TV to "progress" mode, using picture mode 3 and then tweaking.
Toshiba 32zd26
Panasonic 32ps12
Sony KV32FX68
