How do i wire my boxes up? (pics included)
Question:

Im not sure how im sposed to wire up all my hardware. Heres a link to the back of all the boxes:
http://ac005a2092.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/amps.jpg
is 180ish k so might be a bit slow on a modem. Anyway, on top is a Yamaha DSP processor, in the middle is my DVD player and on the bottom is a regular Denon amp. I have 4 speakers, fronts and rears. What do i have to plug where in order to get things to work.
What tripped me up was that the back of the Yamaha only has clip in sockets for the rears and centre speakers so i guess the fronts are still driven from the normal Denon amp.
Can someone give me an idea of where i should be plugging the cables. Maybe take that pic into paint shop pro and dra some lines on it to show me where things go :)
Ta for any help

Hello
Because of the lighting I can't tell what other connections the Yamaha DSP processor has ... looks like an old Dolby Pro-Logic model and I can't see a coaxial digital or optical digital input. I think the shiny bit on your picture is the 6 channel inputs ... so Centre, Subwoofer, Front Left, Front Right, Rear Left, Rear Right.
Your DVD player will output the 5.1 (6-channel) sound via its analogue connections, so the way to connect it all up would be as follows:
DVD Player (Centre, Subwoofer, Rear Left and Rear Right Outputs) > corresponding Inputs on the Yamaha DSP Processor
You then take the Front Left and Front Right outputs from the DVD Player and connect them to the AUX Left and Right Inputs on the Denon Amp.
The Centre, Rear Left and Rear Right speakers are wired into the Yamaha Processor, as is the subwoofer (using a single analogue / phono cable). The Front Left and Front Right speakers will be wired into the Denon amp.
All other sources (CD player, tape etc) can be plugged into the Denon Amp and the Denon can be used as a standalone stereo amp.
To listen to stuff in Dolby Digital / DTS (assuming your DVD player decodes the latter) you have to have both the Yamaha processor and Denon amp on. The Denon amp will have to be switched to the Aux input. It is possible that you will have to switch the Yamaha to 6 channel input mode.
By trial and error you can adjust the volume on both amps so the volume is level across all channels.
Come back when you've given it a try and we can iron out any problems.

What? Not even a thanks then? Or am I to assume you're still stuck behind your AV kit wrapped in phono cables calling for help?
