Question:
Hi all,
I'm going on holiday shortly for a couple of weeks and was wondering what I do with my amp, etc. when I go away?
I've got Sky+, Yamaha Amp, Xbox, DVD Player and TV.
Do I switch it all off at the mains except for the Sky+? Or is it also safe to leave the amp on?
In the instructions for the amp it says that if you switch it off at the mains it retains it's settings for about 10 days. If it's safe to leave it on (in standby) while I'm on holiday then I won't need to lose my settings.
What do you guys do?
Leave it all on in standby mode.

Personally I unplug anything electrical when I go on holiday.

Obviously, otherwise how would you pack your vibrating companion?
On a serious note though I tend to turn off stuff at the mains if we're away for any extended period. You could leave your stuff on, most probably without incident, but I'll warrant that your insurers would try and say you were negligent if your amp went critical and burnt down your house. But then you could always call Russ Andrews as your expert witness (Perry Mason style) at the inquest, who would say that turning off your AV equipment is unnecessary and degrades both sound quality and system longevity.
:)
Hmm...never thought about the insurance thing. Maybe I'll turn it off if it's not safe.
I don't suppose it is especially dangerous (didn't mean to worry you unduly) ... but it is still probably a good idea to switch it off. :)
I think the only thing I'll leave on will be the Sky+
Thanks for your help!
